Blu Rays for Anime

Can someone explain to me what blu rays are? Also, how are they released, are they released all at once or each episode weekly/monthly?

Blu-rays are released in America a couple months or even a year or two after the show has ended. These usually contain an entire set worth of episodes, Ex: 1st season of anime (12 episodes). Some blu-rays wont release the whole set at once but this is very rare and those are studios like aniplex which are overpriced anyway. Say the show has two seasons, they may release the first season on blu-ray at one point and then the second season further down the road. Not all shows get blu-ray's or DVD's either it depends on the sales and popularity of the show.

blu rays are a special type of DVD that requires a blu ray player to show them (PS4, blu ray player) etc.. that being said now blu ray anime usually comes out when the show is over or when it's been dubbed and includes an entire season on 1 or more disc

when a blu ray is released, does it include all episodes from that season or do the blu ray episodes come out weekly?

as @dr4g0ns1ay3r said for the Japan side when it comes to releases. As for the US it depends on the company but its mostly just aniplex and ponycan USA that do single disk releases while funimation and sentai do season or half season releases.

The quality of BDs are outstanding. I did a comparison between streaming and BD for both Date A Live and Index and found that the difference in quality was night and day when it came to visual and audio. The reason why is because unlike streaming which the episodes are compressed, BDs dont have such limitations because of the amount of space a single disk has which is around 25gb.

blue ray are released like a few weeks after the anime ended.

The benefits of blue rays are increased in detail. I.E. Detailed Background not a vague/faded color background
If you hate censorship due to gore/nudity, blue ray usually remove those censorship
