@nindow: I make threads about girls I encounter. They happen to be Asian.

Spanish girls are my #1 but my school is 80% Asian so ya, statistically, the girls will be Asian.

Sorry to disappoint you. :^)
oh snap its you. i remember now. you did talk about how you liked brown skinned girls and even more when they have braces. but you usually talked about asians so i thought you had yellow fever and people would be like "he has yellow fever!".

Congrats! You don't think east asian women like that! Have a cookie!
Like i've said before. If you like girls for their personality and coincidentally, are all east asians, then that is not racist.
BUT, if you target ONLY east asians, regardless of whether you think they're exotic or whatever, but you ONLY have a preference for east asians,
you have a problem.
simple as that.
lol bye you're a hopeless case.
Is it even considered yellow fever if it's among your own race?

Since TS was inquiring about the phrase I kinda assumed he was non-Asian. But i'm genuinely curious as to what you think in that regard.
na, if you're east asian you can't have yellow fever. You just can't fetishise your own people. Like, you are born east asian. You're born into an east asian family (unless you're adopted) you know about your culture (well, most likely you do unless you're not about that stuff) You don't look at your own people like they're exotic or some fantastic zoo animals. You just see them as people, because they're like you, racially.
However, this can be argued because there are those kpop fans. I've witnessed east asians who were not korean, obsess with kpop celebrities. Some are so obsessed, that they want to marry ONLY korean people. Like, "oh, he's korean? Thats so hot! I love korean men. they're so (insert fantasy they got from some kdrama)". That itself is disgusting and frankly, I am disappointed. Some view this as a form of yellow fever. This is where things get complicated because some people are like ya its yellow fever and some are like na it aint. I think whatever you call it, its still bad lol.
I personally do not view this as yellow fever because to me, yellow fever is reserved for people who are non-asians. It is when non-asians are obsessed with ALL east asians. It doesn't matter if you're korean or chinese or thai, as long as you're east asian.
In the case of those kpop people obsessed with ONLY korean people, i view them as people who fetishise koreans and are racist.

Preferring your own race is not racial preference because its your own race. You have the right to prefer someone because you have that cultural connection and trust that they don't fetishise you. However, it IS a problem if you ONLY prefer your own race.

Im a person of color too. So are you implying that if i were asian it would be okay? Im not fetishising anyone. I'm just calling you out on your delusion. :^)
Delusion? I simply asked if you were white and you didn't answer. I provided information as to why it is important to know if you were white.
If you were asian, that is a different story. Typically, if you are east asian and are attracted to east asians, that is not racial fetishism. You cannot fetishise your own people. That itself is self explanatory. However, if you are east asian and are like "I want to date other east asians because I believe in the stereotype that they are submissive and blah blah!" then that is internalized racism. Not fetishism.
Seriously, I am just calling you out on your fetishism. Based on your attitude, you don't seem to see anything wrong with yellow fever. Why did you even start this thread if you aren't going to listen to people, let alone simply google this stuff...

You really shouldn't feel defensive about this. I am merely calling you out. I'm not asking you to bend down and ask for forgiveness.
But you know what? have fun fetishising east asian women. I hope you find someone who is east asian and is okay with your yellow fever and y'all live happily ever after.
I recommend you google why yellow fever is bad, and look for stuff that are written by east asians, from their experience.

No. A preference is something that is shared by all races. Examples: Liking big noses, thin eyebrows, long hair, big lips, beards, curly hair. These are characteristics that can be found in all races.
preference
1.a greater liking for one alternative over another or others.

Your first point is already wrong.
I, as a person of colour, am telling you that your racial preference is not a compliment, and is a problem.
I never implied that a racial preference is a compliment, once again projecting.

If YOU don't see this as a problem, then whatever. Go find an asian girl that likes being fetishised and you can all live happily ever after.

@Datfeelwhen: If its coincidental, then its fine I would say. That's not yellow fever.
If you believe that if an asian girl who's personality you liked magically switched ethnicity and was white, black, brown, native, and whatever,
and you would STILL like her regardless of her race
then its not yellow fever.
However, if you specifically target east asian women and find yourself more attracted to east asian women than others, then you have a problem.
@Datfeelwhen don't feel hurt. Redeem yourself. Recognize that its racist and better yourself.

I'm going to add on to what I said earlier (which was a yes, its racist) since I'm wide awake and not sleepy.
Does having yellow fever make you racist?
The answer is: yes. Having a racial preference makes you racist. Its not the type of racism that people usually think about like calling someone a racial slur, but it is indeed a form of racism. Here's why.
1. You're attracted to asian girls? Why? Why SPECIFICALLY east asian women? Commonly, those with yellow fever think east asian women are exotic, or "submissive". Perpetuating stereotypes like east asian women being submissive is racist and I think its self explanatory as to why that is.
You're only attracted to their physical appearance? The problem with this is many people think things like "omg asian girls are so kawaii! sugoi desu!" or like "They're so exotic... they're eyes..." like what the hell? Thats gross and creepy af. Treat us like people, please. We are not animals and are not exotic like we are not rare k.
Its also pretty rude to only target asian women just because they're asian. Like, that's it? That's the reason you're attracted to me? Get outta here.
Having a racial preference is not okay. Its fetishism. You also put us on a pedestal and that ain't cool. Putting one race over another ain't cool man.
I say its a different story if you've been attracted to women that just happen to be asian.
It's all coincidental to me though. I dont have a reason really.

You're attracted to who you're attracted to.

Some people are interested in men only.
Some people are interested in women only.
Some people are into white people only.
Some people are into Asians only.
You can keep making a list for many things.

It's just a label. People are into what they're into.

in a sense, any racial preference for attraction is by definition racist because it diminishes the qualities of a person down to their race and ethnic upbringing, and it pins certain stereotyped qualities and expectations (e.g. Asians being demure) upon them. of course, there is a distinct difference between coincidentally finding yourself attracted to Asian people and consciously pursuing potential partners based on whether they are of one race or another. there could also be a discussion of how racism is already internalized and relevant in your selection without your realization, but that's another story. every person has a unique collection of qualities that encompass their being, so reducing their entire being down to them being X race is discriminatory and prejudiced behavior. so by this definition, yellow fever, or any other ethnic fetish is racist.

Maybe this isn't appropriate to say hear but I'd recommend reading M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang.

It gives a lot of insight about how Eastern culture views Western males/how Eastern culture views Western males' view on Eastern females.

Plus I just think it's a good read. By the end you will be able to answer your own question in regards to it being racist or not. Just don't google around too much or you'll spoil the story and not really get the gist of what the author was trying to get across.
