To all the people that say MAC doesn't get virus.. you're wrong. They do in fact get viruses, back then when people didn't use them a lot, not many people made viruses for macs.

Mac's and Pc's have their perks depending one what you're using them for. PC's can be more flexible with your software and more user friendly. MAC's are really tight in terms of their OS. I don't have a mac so I can't really say much or anything about them, my knowledge about MAC's are at a bare minimum haha .
- In terms of speed, MAC's are faster out of the box, since most new macs comes with flash memory (Hence why they're really expensive) but you can get a external HDD! , PC's can be faster out of the box but you'd have to get an SSD (they're dropping in prices slowly so don't worry!) + other high end components.780ti drooolllezzz 800 SERIESS
- Through the gaming path, of course PC is going to win from the customizability with the motherboard.
- Video/3D rendering MAC will win this one (Final Cut Pro), but pc can also catch up buy you'll have to buy high end components (EG. Processor, RAM, GPU).

That's my thoughts. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

PC.
-Contrary to popular belief it's more intuitive, based on how much I see people needing help on a Mac compared to a PC
-Can do everything you can do on a Mac, but better, and usually faster
-Customization, bro
-Can do MORE than a Mac can do

The only good thing about Macs is that they look kinda pretty, but so does Windows 8 and 7, plus you can also customize the PC's look a lot more.

And on the whole artsy, video editing thing...the ONLY thing Mac wins in is Final Cut, but there are alternatives.

@acuppa: Ahhh, I see. I wasn't really aware of their use in that field.

let's not forget that there's always the option of using Steam, so "gaming" is not much of an issue as it used to be a few years ago.

Not sure if this is still the case, but Macs have historically been preferred for musical projects, because external hardware (synths, MIDI controllers, etc) is pretty much plug-and-play. Windows made you go through the arduous task of installing drivers and bloated software.

macs vs pc is such a term for "stupid non tech ppl".

Its like comon anyone with any real software / hardware knowledge knows that even the term itself is retarded.

Its more "osx vs windows" than anything.

As you can freaking build your own pc and put ios on it or dual boot with mac vice versa.

You are limited with apple, u are not when u pick ur own parts.

Software is all preference.
What is this bootcamp? (Sorry never had a Mac. Only used it in elementary school)
BootCamp is an Apple program that allows you to "boot" the computer (start it up) and choose between different Operating Systems.

The normal setup is to partition your hard drive into at least two completely separate areas and install a different OS (like Windows) on the second partition.
Then when you turn the Mac on, it asks you what OS you want to run and you can choose between running the computer as a Mac, or as a Windows PC.
This allows you to load and run Windows software on a Mac.

Note that you have to buy the second OS separately.
I like my Mac more.
Fast, easy to use, doesn't freeze on me, I love the trackpad, I love how everything syncs with my iPhone, can last 8 hours on battery so I don't have to take my charger everywhere, sturdy.

The only bad part is incompatibility with games and some Microsoft software, but it can easily be solved with bootcamp.
Well I guess historically they had an advantage when it came to music and animation and digital art and stuff too, but that stuff is pretty much even these days.

I think that the only real advantages macs have over PCs are the OS itself, and certain mac-specific apps.

@zpattack12 Macs used to be better, but now they are about the same

Personally, I disagree with a lot of what Apple's philosophy when it comes to computing, so on principle, I prefer PCs. There's also the fact that PC is equal to Mac in everything except video editing, and can do more, and is cheaper, and more customizable.

I have both, but I like PC's better because they're waaaay cheaper for what you get, you can upgrade them much more easily, you can play games on them better, and I like Windows OS better than Macs. The reasons why I do like Macs though is because they're much lighter (well, there are some windows laptops that can come close, but this is as a whole) and it's harder to get viruses on them, but if you're intelligent with what you click on and with your anti-virus software, they shouldn't be an issue on PCs

pc: easy to modify/upgrade, runs everything
mac: don't know, never had mac, unix looks fun to play with it, gui looks prettier.

If you don't care about price than either.
If you care about price PC
if you like OSX than mac
if you like windows PC

simple as that

I have one of each (actually 2 PCs >.&gt and I use them for different things. Like most people above said it depends on the purpose. But I voted Mac because I hate seeing tied polls

It all depends on your personal preference. This is a forum made for a game that's only playable on the PC so more people are going to answer PC. I personally prefer a PC but I have no problem with Macs at all.

price/performance ratio: PC is better
gaming in general: PC is better
getting work done: a tie
general usage (youtube, word processor, etc): a tie
customer service: Apple is better
video editing: Apple is better

Depends on what you are looking for in a computer/laptop. For example, Mac's are better at video editing and PC's are better for gaming.
