Holy crap the anticipation

I'm really, really scared and anxious regarding my acceptance for UCI. I want to attend this school so badly. Even if I got into UC Berkeley (hah), I'd still rather go to Irvine. Anyway,
Major: Civil Engineering
UC GPA: 4.0, Unweighted GPA: 3.83
SAT: 1800 (math: 700, reading: 580, writing: 520)
Not many APs and honors. Junior and sophomore year only consisted of one honors and AP class total. I'm also taking three APs my senior year currently, but I don't know if that will make a difference or not.
I played Varsity tennis for three years. I'm varsity this year as well, but it's on and off. I'm a member of Badminton club, and I won a singles tournament at my school. I'm a member of Key Club with about ~80 hours of community service. Also a member of CSF for three years and going this year as well. And LiNK club.
Asian Male
I don't know if my personal statement was well written or not. I'd like to think it was, haha. Im so mad at myself for my low SAT score because I know for a fact that I did not try my best in the reading section and actually dozed off in the writing section. I hate myself. I'm also mad at my precalc honors teacher for losing four of my homework assignments, giving me a B for the second semester of junior year. I didn't write that in my personal statement!
So yeah, what are my chances of getting into UCI? Thanks in advance

@Burning: Yeah, of course lol. I didn't want to say that my essay was well written or not because in comparison to other applicants, I know there always people way~ better than me. I did work on it for some time, though. I don't know if it was a long time to work on the essay or not, but I worked on it pretty hard for around 6 days
Lol I had to work on my personal statements for over a month XD. It's probably due to the fact that I procrastinated so much...also because I'm just bad at English in general haha. Like someone said already, your ECs and personal statement matter a lot. Don't just think "oh god my GPA/SAT suck". This is not just to make you feel better, just trying to be realistic. It's easy for people to just assume they won't make it but I encourage you to look at all the factors--actually don't do it. The more you think about it, the more anxious you'll get lol. Just do what I do and assume rejection from every college applied to, then when you get accepted you'll be so happy you might just get a heart attack and die. I don't even know where I'm going with this anymore.

Your grades are very good and the extracurricular activities are easily more valuable than the AP/honor courses. However, if your personal statement is as bland as your post and especially the quoted except suggests, then I'd say your acceptance can go either way. The personal statement carries a ton of worth because of the huge applicant pool. Lots of high school students who have completed their personal statement like to think that they've crafted the best essay in their life, but so did tens of thousands of other people. Lots of high school students who have completed their UC freshman applications like to think their test scores, grades, and extracurricular activities are enough, but so did tens of thousands of other people.

This Reddit thread was a fun read for me last month: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/2sqdb8/college_admission_officers_what_is_the_worst/
@tiesandbowties: Unfortunately, no. I did not start applying until about a week before applications for CSUs and UCs were due because of family deaths and multiple hospitalizations that required me to go out of state for a long time without internet. So I just applied to UCs
Gotcha. well, if the more than likely scenario happens and you don't get in (if something happens and you end up getting in post it here so I can PM you my address so you can punch me in the face) just go to a CC and work hard and transfer into Irvine or wherever your heart desires.

I got flat out rejected by my dream school, Duke. Just gave me more incentive to work harder tbh and a school to root against during march madness lol

@AveryMBII: Yeah, of course! I applied to community college too, just two days ago in fact.

Even if you do get rejected this isn't the end all be all. You can still get your two years at CC in and after organizing yourself you can go right to Irvine with the proper credits.

@Updated Coincidently that's where I'm transferring to next year, hope you can get in because it is a damn beautiful campus.

You're pretty much the 50th percentile - not too good, not too bad.
I don't really know too much about Cali schools, but you don't have to be too smart to understand statistics.
Just hope you have good ECs at this point xD

I got into a pretty decently good college without any community hours, nor did I play a varsity sport - so you should be fine.

Thanks, at least I know to not expect much...Good thing I applied for community college in case
@Updated: After hearing such bad news about probably not getting in, it sounds like you're just trying to cheer me up lol. And I appreciate it either way! Thank you for the self-esteem boost and and I wish you the best with your acceptances

I'm anxious for UCI as well. The poster two posts above me has a point, but it's not 100% true. Your extracurriculars are pretty good and beat out a lot of people with high GPA/SATs but no extracurriculars. You also have a sport to go off so don't be too down about it. It's true, an 1800 SAT and 4.0 weighted is on the low side for Irvine, but so many other factors tie into it. Don't get too down bro, it's not a 0% chance. True there are A LOT of applicants, but the reason why so many UCs have low acceptance rates is because so many people apply. And out of the many who apply, over half have GPAs/SATs FAR worse than yours. Regarding your AP classes senior year, colleges DO take that into consideration. They like to see you're still "challenging yourself". Anyways, good luck man!

On another note, UC Davis comes out this friday and SB on saturday...I'm so scared.

sorry to break it to you but i'm not going to beat around the bush. an 1800 SAT score and a 3.83 GPA with one honors and AP class within your four years of high school will not get you into UCI.
you won't even get deferred, it'll probably be a straight rejection. UC Berkeley won't even look at your application with an 1800 SAT score.

and the applicant pool for this class is even more competitive than a couple of years ago from what i've heard from Northwestern's admissions committee. they're rejecting kids with 2300's this year at my school

idk about that. My friends got rejected. they, had 4.1 gpa with,7 ap classes and 1900 sat

an 1800 SAT is low even for UCI.
berkeley needs like 2100+
i would imagine UCI is in the 2000+ range

a 3.83 unweighted GPA is good but barely any honors or AP classes through freshman to senior year? i don't know if that's going to cut it
