Split and chapped lips

I drink almost a gallon of water a day and my diet hasn't really changed recently but for the past 1-2 weeks my bottom lip has been incredibly chapped and there's a huge split down the middle of it. Can I get some tips on recovering from this and if anyone here has been through this before?

you don't need fancy lip balm just apply vaseline, vaseline is great

DO NOT LICK THE LIPS.
go to your nearest drug store and buy chap stick/Vaseline/lip balm ASAP.
or just ask any girl, they always have a stick or two. implying you're in grade school college
but especially when climate is changing like this YOU NEED to get your own
Vaseline does wonders for chapped lips even in the winter put it on during the day and before you sleep
Came here to say this! Vaseline is so great, it's the only thing I can apply only ONCE to my lips and lasts for hours. No more having to rechap your lips every hour which is crazy annoying.

Now that I think about it you're probably right.. A gallon just seemed like a little much to me at first but i try to drink around 4 32 oz bottles a day for cross country

@evyxx a gallon is actually a lot more water than you really need in a day

Apply chapstick, lipbalm, vaseline etc regularly throughout the day. Don't lick or peel it, makes things worse.

chapstick or vaseline?
could be that the air is too dry, especially since we're moving to winter. use a humidifier.
uh always drink your water and eat fruits with high water content.
