1993 vs 2013
It's easy to lose perspective of how far technology has advanced in 20 short years. To understand how different it would have been growing up in say the 80s.
This simple image shows exactly how far we've come. What is even more impressive is that the top image does not portray the adequate storage media required for the equipment.

Yes, but for the most part people no longer rely on watches to check time, it is no longer a necessity for timekeeping.
people still carry watches. usually G shock or anything fancy.
remember when car phones were a thing? you had to have a professional install it, get a huge antenna mounted on your car, pay a lot of money... all for the convenience of being able to be reached by phone while driving
My mates dad had one in his BMW, one day I had the privilege of using it, felt like the coolest kid in town.

I feel really bad for you right now
I still listen to cassettes. My dad's got a whole classical music collection of it.
@dimo: Yup, that's pretty much my fear too. You can only keep up with trends for so long before other things become more important, like work or family. Even now I can't keep up with things like kik or raspberry pi, even new video games/consoles. I'm turning into the people I made fun of as a child >.>
I don't even know what Kik is... so yeah
gay baby jail
@dimo: well, true. it's very frightening how much technology has advanced, though! I mean, forget internet - there wasn't TV, cars weren't something everyone had, even radio as we know it was barely more than just a thought. In all honesty, I'm scared to see how technology will be different in 20 years, let alone 100.
I'm scared to realize that soon I too wont be able to keep up with technology, technology that will be like second nature to the next generation of youth.
I swear that I seen this picture posted somewhere before.
OT: Polaroid, Walkman, some old digital watch, JVC recording cam, a PDA (?), and a Macintosh.
Edit: It should have been an android smartphone.
You missed the pager at the center bottom, and considering two of the original devices were Apple I think it makes sense to have an Apple smartphone product.
what's up grandpa
uhh okay then.
Was born in 1994 xD
Funny how on the SATs and exams, they still say pagers aren't allowed
that's good and all but 1913 vs 2013 scares me more
Agreed, but there are very few people who can claim that they remember life in those two years, but a lot, like myself, who have seen the transition that I posted. Either way Isometimes forget why my parents seem lost with today technology.
I'm glad to be young in 2013, can't wait for more technologies to come out so we can be lazier!
that's good and all but 1913 vs 2013 scares me more
What are those devices at the top? WHAT ARE THEY?
