I'm not too worried about damage, since most of the regular monsters I hunt are one hit kills anyway. And if I cared about damage I wouldn't have fused a Beryl suit with a Jett overall for my female Jett, when I could've kept an Empress overall for the set bonus. Still a pity that the Starling familiar is so weak.
But if either Starling or Crow were actually decent fighters they could've handled the Silent Crusade on their own, instead of standing idly by while we do all the work!

Buy what you like, doesn't always have to be about more damage constantly. I think the familiar looks awesome with that jumping attack, stylish.

Not that I haven't wasted multi-million of mesos on stuff since RED started- I wasted 150m on a Black Duster and a Dragon Familiar NX items and don't even really like either one. And with nothing else really I need to buy I can afford to waste money on flashy stuff.
Starling boosts avoidability. Though Jett takes a hit of -300 avoid to use Relentless... provided the avoid stat actually does anything anymore.
Are these permanent familiars? I know at some point Nexon made familiars permanent, is this one covered?
Very few familiars can be used for damage. Cygnus does decent map wide damage but still very low dps. Most are used for secondary abilities like drop rate or hp/mp regen.
