Eating Korean food for the first time?
I'm going to a Korean restaurant for the first time in my life and there aren't many of them in my country because we don't have many Koreans. Any recommendations?

i really reccommend dukbokki ,i order it every time i eat at a korean restaurant but its very spicy ..very very spicy
depends where you'r going to
if you're going a korean bbq then i really reccomend the galbi and bulgogi with some kind of beef stew
if you're going to a tofu shop then if they have it buy a pajun along with a side of galbi and a soondubu (tofu stew) preferibly squid or seafood
so maplestory has driven you this far
mind blown
I think it really depends on where you're going. Since you're country doesn't have that many korean restaurants, at least I'm assuming since it doesn't have that many koreans there like you said, they might serve cheaper quality meat which isn't as good as it could be. Here in Cali though, we have korean restaurants galore and i have to admit, I really enjoy the cuisine. I recommend the pork or galbi (ribs) and like a soup to go with such as soybean soup. They're my favorites along with bibimbap if you're not eating alot and daboki, which is like rice cake in spicy sauce and i love it Keep in mind though, when i first went to a korean restuarant i was shocked at all the side dishes! They really bring out alot and i tried kimchi for the first time. Gotta say, hate the smell but it actually tastes pretty damn good. People like different things so if it doesn't suit you, then there's nothing wrong. I heard kimchi's complicated in the sense that it always tastes different depending on who fermented it, how long it was fermented, and the quality of the spices. I've had some pretty nasty kimchi but most of them are great! It'll be a great experience and enjoy
Their Korean BBQ is to die for, make sure you order some! My favorite Korean dish is probably live squid / octopus, if the restaurant has any you should try it. Theres a possibility youll choke on it though.
You no wat that means .YO KEYERO TACO BELL! that means gimme taco bel.
Yo quiero* taco bell. And that means I want taco bell lol.
When I eat Korean BBQ I like everything made of beef and pork. When I'm just eating non kbbq food, I usually order the beef fried rice thing. I don't really know what it's called, but I think it's bibimbap? And the beef ribs are the best. I think they're called galbi or something. You can eat it down to the bone, since it'll come off.
Oh my god you're missing out.
My first Korean food was probably naengmyun. Some people don't like it, but I love it. There was a Pyeongyang cuisine restaurant in my home town (in China). I ate it there.
In Korea, people call jjajangmyun and jjamppong Chinese food. It's not Chinese food, trust me. You cant even find them in Chinese restaurants.
Don't forget samgyupsal, bulgogi, and galbi. Korean BBQ, namsayin.
I buy Korean lavers every week. Kimchi is too expensive lol. And it leaves you pungent breath.
kimbap
gamjatang
ddeokbokki
Bet you can't eat raw octopus.
Pat bing soo is the gs.
There's too much stuff to name so I'll stop here.
Avoid kimchi and make sure people at your table avoid it. Aside from that korean food can be pretty good. I used to love eating my friends mothers cooking.
Why avoid Kimchi Its the best dish on the table since it goes with everything. Kimchi is like the elder to all side dishes.

Hate the smell but love the taste
uhhh well my favorites to eat in restaurants are usually galbi(korean bbq)...samgyupsal..bibimbap..mandu..kalguksu... i think the first 3 i mentioned are the generally most favored ones among non koreans!
I have never had Korean cuisine but I'd love to sometime, I'm envious of you OP
There's apparently a great korean bbq place in my town...
What kind of meat is the most popular among Koreans? Lamb, cow, chicken, pig etc? (excl. fish)
Their pork or beef are really good imo.
I've been to tons since I live in southern California. It's a lot of meat. They serve you many side dishes. Each person gets one rice bowl to eat along with the meat. (Always eat rice with something savory, never by itself! #1 Asian rule) And that's pretty much it. They give you rounds and rounds and rounds of uncooked meat to cook in the grill on the table. It's pretty fun to cook while eating. Oh and always dip the meat in the sauce they serve you before eating!
What kind of meat is the most popular among Koreans? Lamb, cow, chicken, pig etc?
@dizzo2: People who are obsessed will like everything about that ethnicity. Even something as disgusting as smelly, old, fermented cabbage.
That's ridiculous. Any way the topic is not about yellow fever but Korean food. And that is just personal preference because as far as I'm aware, lots of people like it.

That's generalizing things too much isn't it.
@drager260: It is the most disgusting smelling and tasting thing I have ever been in the presence of. I can barely stomach being in my friends house when his mother makes it. He even feels the same way about it. The people who say it tastes really good are the korean obessed people/asians. As well as obviously native koreans.
Liking Asian food has nothing to do with being obsessed over any ethnicity. I just prefer Chinese, Japanese, Indian etc. food because it has more flavour than what we have to offer in my country.
Okay so kimchi is good, what else? Kimchi is a side dish, isn't it? What else is good?

I'm neither and I love it. I agree sbout the smell though. I eat almost all the time. Even with my eggs sometimes.
It's also packed with loads of nutrients.
I thought Kimchi was supposed to be really good.
I like it.
