why is bossing in maplestory so costly?
compare maplestory to runescape. how much will it cost the players to take down the strongest boss in both games? as far as i know, bosses in runescape are beatable by the majority of the players. in ms without millions of nx , think how much time you would have to spend on this game just to kill empress and even empress is not really considered an end game boss. my point is made.

Well we still have Nebulites, but I actually prefer it this way. It makes it harder to reach the 50m cap. KMS is just disgusting because literally everyone hits the cap.

Don't give me that crap. If you want to get anywhere in this game you NEED NX. There comes a point where you just can't do squat without it.

There's an enormous difference between making a profit and trying to milk your players for everything they're worth and assuming they're chumps.

This is exactly why I haven't played Maplestory in a while.
Runescape is in fact a less money spender game. It's also easier to fund from scratch but in Maplestory how do you expect a noob to get really godly without merchanting or buying NX? In Runescape I didn't have to be a member and I was really good before that. I had around 1000 total level but that was back in 2009.

They're so costly because you have to gamble to obtain everything in this game. People would rather pay for the most beneficial results rather than leave it all to a slim chance that could set them back days worth of of gameplay and millions worth of mesos. Obviously Nexon took advantage of this by making things increasingly more difficult and releasing new forms of potential to gamble on so you can [b]possibly[/b] beat them. Wouldn't be a big deal if all the best possible items and potentials weren't restricted to paying players, while any in game alternatives are usually severely limited and/or come with horrendous side effects that make them hardly worth the risk.
Short Answer: It's because Nexon knows that no matter how ridiculous the cost may be some people will still be willing to pay it.
As far as comparisons go, I've never played Runescape and probably never will.
It's all this high damage everyone's (paying for, -Cough-) getting that's pushing the bosses' HP further up, making them more and more expensive to defeat.

Yeah but we aren't forced to buy nx to get access to exclusive content, people choose to buy nx to be better than everyone else.

i would understand your argument if all the harder bosses didnt have a 6 ppl limit, its not like pre-bb where you could bring like your entire guild and assign rolls
you need 6 godly people in order to do majority of bosses so it isnt really teamwork that is necessary
If bosses were killable byunfunded people, then the game would be too easy
It's costly because Nexon sees it as their opportunity to make money there since they know everybody loves bossing
Because nexon doesn't realize that it is. The bosses require people to be funded, but I dont get why they come out with marvel. Literally defeats the whole purpose of funding in the first place to take down a boss.
Because the player makes it so costly, you don't need to spend lots of money. You can just be very very very very lucky, which is very very unlikely. Also another way is to fight with other players.

I think runescape is more time consuming in the beginning--lots of skills and time to get to a high level. I've never done any bosses in it though.
Maplestory makes it easy from the beginning to get you addicted to the gameplay, then the later content gets exponentially harder so you can pay to keep playing.
