the NFL did protect the Pats during deflategate... the NFL commissioner Goodell didn't even contact Brady or Belichick about the incident nor were any fines/penalties issued before the superbowl
edit: you also have no idea what you're talking about. The NFL works for the owners of the franchise. the NFL isn't one thing, it's made up of all the teams in the NFL. The NFL commissioner WORKS for the owner of the Pats, Robert Kraft.
