Apple Lightning Cable

Quick question. If my device isn't under warranty, will Apple replace my 3 month old one for a new one?
Also, anyone have an idea on what's wrong with it or fixes?
It's for iPod Touch 5G, and a hole is in it, earlier smoke came out of it.
Thanks.

Go to an apple store and try

A friend of mine got them to fix a bunch of stuff on his 5 year old laptop for free

I suggest going to an apple store if there's one nearby and explaining your situation. I think they'd be willing to hand you a free one if you talked long enough.

Dude apple usb cables are such crap because I got a new one like 1 month ago which broke like in 2 weeks, the wires broke and it turned hot with smoke coming out.[/quote]

It might have been a third party Chinese knockoff.
