Slow 2h Axe Vs Fast 2h Sword Urgent

Hi Basil,
I am wondering which is better, a fast 2H sword with 149 attack or a slow 2H axe with 167 attack (The axe has a 12 attack pot, the sword has a 3% pot, although I am not taking those into account as they are both rare and would very likely be cubed)

Please answer seriously, as it may impact on what I decide to get.
Thanks,
DuskRaven!

@Toqa: @icystriker: You're both wrong (although icystriker is farther from the truth).

First of all the difference between speeds changes based on what attack you are using and there is also a larger difference between the speeds the closer you are to the cap.

So for instance using Intrepid Slash as our attack the speed difference between a weapon at Fastest 2 (say a ST with booster and decent SI) and a weapon attack at Faster 3 (that same ST with no SI) is about 9.5% but the difference for a Fast 4 weapon (say a normal 6 weapon with just booster) and a faster 3 weapon (same weapon but with decent SI and booster) is only 8.7%.

The last thing of note is that it isn't a % of your attack it is a % of your damage. If I wanted to see what kind of range I would need to make up for not having Decent SI I would have to take my range (30k) and multiply it by 1.095 (32.85k). So if I could spend the same amount of money on getting my range to 33K as it would take to get Decent SI it would make more sense to just raise my range.

OT: A slow weapon would be either 21% or 14% slower (depending on if it is Slow 7 or Slow 8). Either way the sword will yield higher DPM especially once it is cubed.

Do you think you could give me a rough estimation on how much the damage difference would be?

@IronMight
Sorry, it's 3% str, and no it's base attack is 167 + 12 attack from pot so a total of 179 attack...
