New Basilmarket Layout

There has been some controversy about this new change and I felt the need to share my thoughts.

First: It's incredibly inconsiderate to be asking for the layout to be reversed. Mr. Basil probably spent a lot of time on this and it's insulting to keep whining about it.

Second: The site is still functional. You can manage through it fine. It's still a bit buggy but that'll be fixed. I've been a member for 2277 days, apparently that translates to ~6.24 years, and I have hardly any issue with it.

Third: The design isn't actually that bad. It's definitely more modern and lines up with the kind of sites that are up today. It'll take some getting used to but I do like it. I like how the screens are up in the front to showcase the art that people have worked hard on. The original design may have been to niche for old players and if this design appeals to newer demographics it would be worth it to stick with it.

Solution and recommendation: Instead of asking the site to be reversed maybe you could provide suggestions for how the new site could be improved. I'll start, I would like the headers of the homepage for the forums to link to the forum pages. I kind of miss the individuality of the forums split through classes. I also can't scroll through older posts on the forums with page numbers on the bottom.

TL;DR, Stop complaining because it's inconsiderate. Be more progressive and instead of complaining add suggestions to how you would like the site to improve. It's honestly not that bad.

P.S, Thank you Mr. Basil for your hard work in maintaining this site.

B is actually asking for input as well, except he routinely makes the mistake of first implementing something and then asking for advice.

yeah basil def isn't so friendly when it comes to threads anymore. everything is way too big which has turned me off from coming here since the update.
I usually use half my screen whenever i browse forums and now i have to fullscreen every time i want to see a notification. imo it's very inconvenient and idc for the mobile friendly aspect when i'm not browsing on mobile in the first place. save that aspect for mobile users and keep the old layout.
i still want to see why this update was done in the first place. was the ms2 basil site really that popular?

ps. at least when it comes to changes, cc asks for input and IS considerate of its users w/ testing js

Ehhhh i prefer the old layout but this is so bad. All he has to do is fix some of the nasty bugs, and return some of the older features and we should be golden. I do dislike how the new layout destroyed a lot of old threads though.

tbh I don't like the general trend to making things look more spacious with large buttons that don't have borders....

making everything bigger does not change the quantity of content, it only forces us to buy higher res monitors and have to scroll more down the screen.

myopinion. So yeah I don't like having to scroll down 5 pages to get to the chat section vs being able to see 70% of the home page without scrolling

Basilmarket is not a public service. No one is forcing Mr Basil to run this website. Further, the most anyone is doing is letting him know their position and perhaps its relationship to their, and anyone's, larger context as a user base.
