Question about phone upgrades and switching carriers

so about a month ago, my family switched to T-Mobile from ATT. I currently have an htc one from ATT (but i'm using the OPO right now) and we were on the NEXT plan thing on ATT. We paid off all our phones so that does qualify us for an upgrade. But, now that we've switched carriers, does that mean we're not eligible for an upgrade on T-Mobile or can we still upgrade? if i am able to upgrade, I'm planning on giving my upgrade to someone in the family.
mhmm yep was exactly what i needed. So let's say we switch back to ATT and signed up for the NEXT plan again, we should be able to upgrade right then, right?
To be honest, I do not know ahaha. If you paid the phones off while you were still with AT&T, I think they should still allow you to upgrade. But at the same time, I'm inclined to believe that because you left them for another carrier BEFORE upgrading, they might say that you can long upgrade the phone you already have and will most likely try and talk you into purchasing a new phone.

I'm certain you can give AT&T a call and inquire about this, though! A representative could help you more, as I only have experience with how T-mobile works (they're my carrier and I've dealt with plenty of exchanges/upgrades) ahaha.

You can only upgrade phones with T-mobile if: 1) You've entirely paid the phone off or 2) If you signed up for the JUMP! plan with T-mobile (After you pay off half the phone's price, T-mobile pays off the remaining half and lets you pick any new phone from the available selection of your choice).

If I'm not misunderstanding what you're trying to ask... If you had NEXT at AT&T, I don't think that it carries over to T-mobile.
