viola after 2 years? learning violin and cello?

Hey y'all. I think i want to pick up my viola again after 2 years of not playing it. I've been playing since 6th grade and am going into my sophomore year of college, so I have been playing for a while, but still 2 years could do some damage. I was wondering, for you musicians out there, how hard was it to pick up your instrument after not touching it for a prolonged time? I read some sheet music and I can still read and match the corresponding fingers on each string pretty easily, but playing might be a different story.

Also, I am interested in leraning violin...going from viola to violin (LOL not the other way around...how ironic), how hard would this be? I know i'd have to learn a new clef, but i think after learning it and knowing what notes correspond to what finger, I think i should be able to read and play violin music pretty easily? Or how about cello? LOL going back to my musical roots...but seriously i do miss playing.

After 4 years of not playing clarinet I had to just relearn the key since I switched from Bb to Eb

I recently picked up piano again after like 6 years, still know ode to joy, radetsky march, and parts of other songs from muscle memory haha.

I think you should be able to pick it up again. If you practice your fundamental scales and exercises you should be fine! Try learning a whole song all the way through to build up your stamina and callouses. Violin has the same position and bow hold but cello has the same strings. Either one would not be too bad to pick up. Been playing cello for 12 years and I will say, I didn't feel like I was even good until 5 years in, but I was only a kid. XD GL

Should be possible as long as you keep up with your practice, and perhaps learn with a teacher? Difficulty all depends on you. I played viola in high school, but I took a one year break to learn another instrument. I was able to pick back up the viola pretty easily. Learning treble clef isn't that hard, we were required to learn how to read it as violas. Man, I almost regret quitting playing as well.
