Ib scores

Probably not as well known as AP, but IB scores were posted this morning! After 2 brutal years (kinda), I can proudly say that I am a recipient of the IB diploma!
English HL: 5
Spanish HL: 5
Biology HL: 7
History SL: 6
Business SL: 5
Math SL: 7
EE and TOK: Both B's.
Total: 37 points
Nice little surprise with math; honestly thought I got a 6. Otherwise, all the others were what I predicted them to be!

Update: Not IB, but my college advisor called and told me I got a 5 on Calc AB (even though most of you probably think it's an easy exam, which it really was) so I guess today was pretty fantastic

@Avatar: I think the point of IB and AP classes is to receive credit for first year courses in college so you don't have to take them again. That's why the exams are designed like college exams.

@xFaceless: Thanks!
@Avatar: there are 3 types of math: IB math studies, IB math Sl, and IB math HL.

IB math studies is basically for students who aren't math oriented, but still want to do the diploma cause it satisfies the math requirement. It tests you on like 6th grade math to derivatives. Really easy from what I've heard.
IB math SL is harder than studies, as it covers what studies does (I think, don't take my word for it) but also tests you over integration. Again, easy, although if you're not too good with your algebra and geometry, it can be troublesome.
IB math HL is brutal, from what I've heard. Our school doesn't offer it, but some friends have commented that it tests you up to calc II. But the teaching is spread out over 2 years, whereas SL is only a 1 year class.

The SL classes are 1 year and you usually don't receive credit for them, while you receive credit for HL classes but you take them for 2 years.

I felt like I was underprepared for both the AP calc AB and IB exam because my calc class was both IB math SL and AP calc ab (we don't offer BC) so our teacher had to split his time teaching both AP and IB material, really screwing me over because I took the AP exam to get credit

Here's how my teacher ranked each exam on a 1-10 scale in terms of difficulty, with 1 being wing it and 10 being death (his words):
Math studies: 1-2
Math SL: 4-5
AP Calc AB: 9-10 (don't know why the exam was pretty easy...)
Math HL: 11

@Thiefy996: AP and IB are supposedly college level courses that will prepare you for the work in college. Honestly, I didn't find them to be that difficult, but it might be because of the way our teachers taught them. AP is more recognized than IB in the US, but IB is more globally known, making it really easy to continue your studies at an IB school in like Switzerland because the program is the same at all IB schools
So IB is not hard at all then because in a school without AP or IB we did pretty much the same things except integration. If you do all of calculus II that's kinda crazy though.
These courses are supposed to help you in college but the college courses in first year are essentially review of high school so that sounds like a waste of time imo.

@Reticent: ik sometimes I feel salty towards schools that offer AP, but in the end we both earned credit!

@BlitzRed: lol nah some kids earned up to 40 points. Ik during the middle of typing my EE I was wondering if all of this was worth it, but the satisfaction of receiving the diploma is much greater than I expected!

So much work, yet the AP tests will always be more highly recognized than the IB. However, I think there is a movement trying to change that. XD
My boyfriend spent 2 difficult years and opted not to get the diploma. He still got into his top choice college and everything else he applied to. Lucky as. :C
