It actually took over 6hrs to do and it's supposed to be simple. As Hye said, this is not an art site. This screen was done not with the intentions of being a masterpiece, but with the intentions of wishing basilers a happy holiday. It's entire purpose was planned out to be simple to get the point across and be somewhat cute.

Not to get all defensive (really, don't think I'm saying this because it's a mod screen), but the front page isn't restricted to JUST impressive artwork. This is a maplestory fan site, and there's way more categories of screens than just "artwork." The goal of the front page is to show some level of variety, not just the most impressive works of art. There's tons of different types of screenshots, artwork, etc., on basil, so the front page is there to show bits of each.

If the front page were only for art or screens that took hours and hours to make, then this probably wouldn't have made the front page because it looks more basic than others. But the screen section's purpose isn't only to show off art work. It's to communicate and discuss with others in a different way.

If you're looking to only see amazing artwork, there's other sites for that. As far as basil goes though, the screen section encourages a greater variety.

And as a note, Eevee said it took quite a while to make this screenshot the way it is. So it's not just some piece of crap put together in five minutes.

Again, I would have said this whether or not I (or any mods) was in the picture. It's important to understand the screen section's purpose here.

I'm a "Merry Christmas" guy too, but I don't get offended in most cases. If you're saying it to someone you don't really know, then I think "Happy Holidays" is more appropriate. But if you're talking to a buddy that you know celebrates Christmas, then go ahead and say "Merry Christmas"
