mercedes skills not working

umm so basically everything was fine and i was grinding and i found one of those weapons that you get from the anniversary boxes and i equipped it but now it says none of my skills are available with my current weapon which is a duel bowgun, right? i tried to switch to another bow but no skills are working except for normal attack. help?
