No more unlimited internet for AT&T.

http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/112671/att-capping-broadband-cnnmoney

Looks like DSL users are being limited to 150GB/month, $10 extra for every additional 50GB.
Broadband users are limited to 250GB/month.

Wonder how long it would take me to go over =(

Cooljax

I have AT&T, but I hardly ever download anything, so this shouldn't affect me.
Sucks, we were about to get it till we heard about the cap; the lady who had been talking with my mother failed to mention the cap.
We would've reached the cap by 2 weeks; 6 people live here and all use the computer daily, and my dads got a business to run from home.

Really sucks because AT&T and Time Warner is the only options here - both are crap because one caps your net, and the other just has TERRIBLE service/quality.
TWC, is pretty good where i live.
in canada there is no caps allowed on internet government said no
Not 100% true, the body governing the fee charges to consumers (CRTC) was told to "reevaluate" its decision to let the big ISP to go to a usage base plan. The new decision should be coming this summer.
@CTBlack: really cause i've noticed, it kinda does... cause i download alot of HD movies,, and their over like 7 gig per download and my usgae has been under 50gig atm, lol
Are you using the bandwidth stats from your ISP's web site for your account?
Some ISP do have trouble getting the real bandwidth of their customs, especially those that download lots. The ISP I was with at one time if you download a huge amount it will cause the bandwidth count to reset, but then they have put in a new bandwidth monitoring system that tracks it a lot more accurately.
If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter how much you actually download. It's how much bandwidth you use which includes browsing/streaming and even leaving maplestory on will continuously send data and it'll add up. I read somewhere that maplestory only uses a few kbps, but it's not advised to just leave it on with the cap. Don't quote me on this but, is this true?
Yes thats true. MS does use very little bandwidth, if you have to cut back on MS then you are waaay too close to the limit.
@Gyroscope: called peerblock, lets you download torents with a lot of privacy, def doesnt affect my usage anymoar, try it out and see in a month how much it helps
Peerblocker doesn't prevent ISP from knowing how much bandwidth you had used. It only blocks any incoming and out going network connections that matches its block lists.

BTW the $10 for 50GB is not too bad, but AT&T still making over 500% per GB at that rate. Its still a rip. Really cost is < $0.05 per GB.
how much is 150gb?
150 Gigs per month is enough. Be thankful that its not 60 gigs.

Unless you heavy duty download movies, games, and etc you'll be in the safe zone for sure

according to the article, "DSL customers would need to watch 65 hours of high-definition videos on Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX - News) to reach the limit, and high-speed customers would need to watch 109 hours."

Roger had that monthy allowance for atleast a year. They charge like $0.50~5 per gig you go over depending on your package the higher the less you pay if you go over.
Its retarded. I know a lot of people go over 20 gigs + and eventally they upgrade their internet package to get a bigger allowance
