I had to say goodbye to my cat today

It was very sad. We've had this cat for nearly 13 years, since the day he was born. This is the worst I've felt in a while, but we had to put him down. He was sick and not getting any better. 13 Years is a long time for a cat to live though. It hurts, some people will say "well he was just a pet" but if you have 13 years to get used to a living being, you'll know the feeling and then to have that being taken away from you. I will eventually get over the initial shock, as did I my Grandma when she passed away 6 years ago. Saying goodbye wasn't easy, but it was the right thing to do in the end to stop his suffering. Anyone else know this feeling?

My dad isn't one to just break down, but at the clinic he just broke down crying. 13 Years is a lot.

I bet he had the voice of an angel!

I had a 10 year old bunny that was suffering the last few weeks after having a seizure. I was sort of relieved to see him die because I could tell he was suffering. He could barely walk and constantly wet himself and his fur was falling out.

Yeah, he was healthy a couple weeks ago too, then all of a sudden he started showing signs of what I believed to be Kidney failure. I didn't want him to suffer, and I don't think Id be able to afford the constant medications that would be needed to keep him alive for a short period of time. This was the best choice for him, as his suffering isn't worth a little more time. He wouldn't eat, he stopped drinking yesterday and he was getting really skinny. So I had no other choice. He hates car rides, yet on the car ride in he didn't meow once. He lived a full life, and was the best cat I ever seen.

It hurts a lot to say goodbye to the people (pets?) you love but to choose so probably is really difficult

Sorry to hear. It's tough decision to make but at least he's done with the suffering. : Give it some time.
