Building a gaming Pc with a budget around 1000. Thoughts?

I looking for any thoughts, suggestions, and criticisms to ultimately improve my build performancewise and financially.

Ah, don't forget that you need an optical drive. As well as the OS if you don't have one already.

Here the ODD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151244

If you get the motherboard and the i5-2500k at microcenter, they take off 50$ from the motherboard. So instead of paying about $300 it'll be $250.

Edit: If they don't have that motherboard, you could always get another one. Just make sure it's LGA 1155.
