I'm trying to get past the crimson guardians with corkscrew just saw a video on brawlers and just remembered we had barrel...didn't put any points into it

OT: I don't think so, I always get affected by seal and other effects as well.

It blocks magic attack, attacks, and touch dmg but not seal and stun and such, at least not from some monsters/bosses.
It blocks only certain moves. Depending on the variation of bosses/monsters, iframes may or may not give you invulnerability to status problems
As for Crimson Guardians, iFrames will not help you. Their seal will get through regardless of iframes
If you have enough hp try tanking the hits and potting a lot. I tried corkscrewing as well and got sealed >_>

I think it does. I dojo a lot, and whenever I'm at Alishar and Papa Pixie and I use corkscrew, I avoid the magic and physical attacks.
