If you purchase a totem while you have 2000 points, do you have to get another 4000 to buy a totem for 4000 or do you keep the previous 2000 points that you had from before?

I understand you can use both of them and i understand you can get it at a lower level but it still feels wierd to pay an extra 100m to get worse stats and only equip it trivially earlier (someone paying 500m for those stats should be able to get to 120 quite fast)

Does anyone else find it weird that the 500m one is worse then the 400m one ?
i was stupid to add the points to all the friends cuz i didnt notice the shop until i clicked on it.

im confused, you can equip the same totems of the same person you just need to equip different tiers of the person's totem.
Let's get one thing straight. you don't BUY the totems with friendship points, you UNLOCK them for purchase with mesos. And while the cheapest one only costs 100k, the next one costs 10mil, and you can't equip more than one of the same totem because they are unique equippable items.
You keep points. I bought the 500 points totem and I still have 500 points.
