Maplecraft mod copyright infringement?
Hey guys, so I'm working on a rather large scale minecraft mod that adds many things from maplestory. The only images that are EXACT are the icons (so the images in your hot bar or when you hold it/drop it). There's tons of free handing for inventories, armors, new models, and etc but the icons are still there. I've been looking into copyright infringement boundaries and supposedly if you give mass credit and have the content for free (which is already going to happen ofc) then you won't be attacked since it's free advertisement for them. And there's no way ill get a response from nexon about it unless I wait years.
Do you think I could get in any sort of legal trouble from publishing it for free with tons of credit references to nexon

I forgot I was on my other account when I posted this forum XD im shmasher.
I'll still release a video soon going over all the stuff added. (for example today and yesterday I added a working inventory with 20 equip slots and gachapon with tickets and random rewards)
and a ticket has just been sent. Hopefully I get permission or at least terms to abide by that still allow it
I think that if you ask them (through a ticket or LiveChat), they are probably up for it
Also, if you do get this to work, I would love to play.

depends how you do it. most sites don't give ad revenue

It's not a server though. It's a mod.
I'd say it's still risky but as long as the scales are tipped in nexon's favor (you're not charging and it's free advertisement for them) then you should be safe
Considering you're not allowed to make money off servers anymore, It'll be fine.
Nvm, thingy didn't work out :c
It's all very complicated, but yes you can get into legal trouble, but they'll probably send an email of sorts demanding your whatever to be shut down, or they will be forced to take legal copyright action.
You can always ask in Live Chat/Ticket for a way to credit them/get their permission for 'commercial' use of their logos, pictures, etc..
