Meso Making Guide

EDIT 1: Hmm.. looked fine when it was in a scrap. Anyone know how to fix this?

[h=Introduction]Introduction[/h]
Hello fellow Basilers! I've prepared a guide for those who want to make mesos WITHOUT merching or buying NX. This guide will make you mesos wicketty-split. Most of the content is available in GMS, but will most likely be available to other regions. Additionally, prices of items may vary from world to world, so they were not included. I've arranged them in an order such that you can make mesos from absolutely nothing! (Except maybe a stick to whack monsters ) Still, starting from the top is still a great idea, as you can still make millions from the first few sections. It is a bit lengthy, but hey, you want to know how to get rich, so I don't think it will be a problem. Good luck!
Recommendations before you begin
(Note all of these are optional. Red ones are HIGHLY recommended, and can save you many hours on your road to riches.)
1. [red]Get 1,800NX credit for a Regular Store Permit.[/red]
(This will let you set up a shop while logged on. Try getting a spot in Channel 1 Rooms 1-14.)
For an NX credit earning guide, check tips1660's NX earning Guide
2. [red]Have a level 30 character.[/red]
(You will need a level 30 character to do quests in the first section of this guide.)
3. Always have a pickax in your inventory.
(This will help especially to get some expensive ores and in the Mining Section.)
4. Have a character with good mobility.
(Just to get around faster.)

[h=info]Quests[/h]
Thanks to @MapleWiki: for almost all of the content in this section.

There are plenty of quests that give you scrolls, but these are the most expensive ones. I will update this with more quests once I do one that gives a nice reward.

[h=info]Item Hunting[/h]
In my opinion, it is not the best way to get mesos, but if you're lucky, you could make 10-50 mil on the spot.

[monster=White Yeti and King Pepe]White Yeti and King Pepe[/monster]
[monster=Gold Yeti and King Pepe]Gold Yeti and King Pepe[/monster]
[monster=Zeno]Zeno[/monster]
[monster=Timer]Timer[/monster]

[h=info]Events[/h]
I cannot stress how important events are if you want to make mesos. They are by far the BEST way to make mesos. For example, the Renegade/Justice Coin event has many expensive mastery books that you can get for only 27 coins! The Knights of virtue give many great rewards. The Tempest Coin event is currently going on in KMS. There are plenty of great events that will earn you 100mil+ just from the event. Any quest events that are repeatable and give scrolls, mastery books, event items, limited weapons, or armor, will give you a large sum of mesos if you take part in them actively. If you want to sell the items you get from events, be sure to sell them really quickly, or much later on. Mastery books you want to sell right away. With all the new classes coming up (Mikhail, Luminous, Kaiser, Angelic Burster, and many more to come) there is a great opportunity for making mesos.

[h=info]Part Time Jobs[/h]
In GMS, there is a new function called part time jobs. It is accessible from the character log in screen before putting in your PIC at the top right-hand corner. You get to choose from Rest, Herbalism, Mining, General Store, Weapon and Armor Store. The character you choose to partake in the part time job will be unplayable for 6 hours when the part time job is completed, or earlier if you choose to end it. Once the part time is completed, you will receive your reward and occasionally a bonus. You should put the character in the part time job just as you start playing, and just after you stop playing. You should be able to get 2 rewards in one day if you do that.
Rest
You will gain various buffs that will aid you in battle.
Not very useful if you want to earn mesos except if you want to hunt for items.
Herbalism
You can obtain various herbs.
Still not useful unless you want to make potions to save mesos.
Mining
You can obtain various ores.
You can receive rare equipment and accessory recipes as a bonus.
This one is VERY useful for making mesos.
You should have a character with Mining as a profession to get better rewards.
Some general bonuses are: Android, Angelic Blessing Ring, Level 100+ Armor and Weapons, PVP Armor and Weapons.
At first, you'll only get opal ores and amethyst ores. However, as your mining level goes up, you will get stacks of 30 ores. Some expensive ones are: Wisdom, LUK, Lidium, Black, Gold, and Topaz.
Soon your inventory will be stuffed with crystals and plates, so make sure to have plenty of room!
General Store
You can obtain useful potions.
This one is somewhat decent. If you get lucky, you might get a bonus and get an expensive scroll.
Mining is more reliable, however.
Weapon and Armor Store
You can receive buffs that increase the drop rate of equipment items
This one is decent as well. You can use the buffs to hunt items.
Mining is still more reliable, however.

[h=info]Mining[/h]
Pick up your pickax and get ready to mine. The mining profession is a VERY good way of making mesos. You can get the profession by going to Ardentmill then talking to Cole. By now, you should be able to learn mining. When you see an ore vein, press space (or whatever your NPC chat button is) near it to start mining. Try not to hit any keys afterwards. If you fail, you get only ore fragments. At higher levels, you can mine higher level ores. You can start by mining topaz and gold ores. Then move onto purple veins. At first, about 50% will fail, but later on, it is less common to fail mining. However, you will still make millions when you get to level 7-10 mining. Here's just a small reference for those new to mining: IceCorp's Ore Chart
Great Places to Mine
Ardentmill Advanced Secret Mine.
This is great if you have level 3-7 mining. (You can still come ealier.) There are gold veins that give topaz and gold ores.

Any map with level monters that have a "5" or "6" as their last digit in their level.
These places are great for when you have level 3-7 mining. (You can still come earlier.)

Ludibrium Toy Factory
This place is great for when you have level 7-10 mining. (You can still come earlier.) There are long chains of Purple and Dark Ores. To get here, go to Ludibrium, go to the second floor from the top, then go left and go in a circular route through the maps.

Any map with level monters that have a "8" or "9" as their last digit in their level.
These places are great for when you have level 7-10 mining. (You can still come earlier.)

Deserted Maps
If you are feeling adventurous, go to a deserted map and try to find a Heartstone. This ore vein will always "fail." However, it will drop imp growing items, refined plates and crystals, and ore fragments.

[h=info]Smithing[/h]
This is a VERY good way of making mesos. It is the best profession there is to make mesos. By now you should have enough mesos to effectively make use of this part of the guide. This requires a little bit of thinking. You have to make a huge amount of one equip then use alchemy to fuse the equips with potential (and if you choose, the ones without). The fusing will be explained in the alchemy section. However, it is not so simple. What equips should you craft? With upcoming classes and revamps, it is best to make items that match those new/revamped classes. If warriors are getting revamped, make many warrior items and try to get %STR. If pirates are getting revamped or a certain Luminous is coming out soon (*wink* *wink*) make a lot of pirate and mage items. The best ones to make are tops/bottoms/overalls/hats. (Gloves are alright; however, most people get the free Mushroom Kingdom Gloves.)

If you get a bad potential, use storage to transfer the items. You can always drop transfer if you want to do it faster, but there is a high chance of getting it looted. Try places where the items are hidden. Here's a few general areas (Be creative and try to find your own secret area.) : Magatia houses, Many places in Kerning City, Ellina's Magic Library. NOTE: Do NOT drop them in Ardentmill, PQs, or any other place that everyone online can go to in less than a second. If there is no potential, disassemble them or fuse them anyways.

[h=info]Accessory Crafting[/h]
This is a VERY good way of making mesos, but inferior to smithing. There are two ways of using Accessory crafting.
Earring and Belt Crafting
This way generates more mesos quickly, but is based more on luck. You craft half earrings and disassemble the ones without potential. (You can still fuse them, but you will run out of materials quickly.) Fuse the ones with bad potential. If you get anywhere from 6%+ of one stat or more, sell it. 3% will not generate that many mesos because this method is very overused and the market is flooded with % earrings.

You can also craft belts. Disassemble the ones without potential (or fuse). Fuse the ones with bad potential. If you get anywhere from 3%+ of one stat or more, sell it. 2% will not generate that many mesos because this method is very overused and the market is flooded with % belts.
Intermediate Crystal Making
This method is tedious, but gives you a steady supply of mesos. For this one, you only need to craft one item: [item=Nimble Ring 2]Nimble Ring 2[/item]. It requires one adamantium plate and one intermediate abrasive (bought from Nack). Go to Channel 1 Ardentmill. There is usually a free (1 meso) purple or blue Extractor (Little glass orbs of liquid) with a person next to it asking for free fame. Be nice and fame that person Double-Click the Extractor and place your rings one by one into the Extractor. You will get 2-4 intermediate crystals. These are sold for a good amount of mesos. (25-50K depending on the world.)
[h=info]Alchemy[/h]
If you have another character at level 30+, learn Alchemy. This will let you fuse items and potentially give potentials on items. Fuse items you craft from Smithing and Accessory Crafting and hope for good % equips. 2% is already decent if they are in high demand.
Here is basic Alchemy Fusing info for those who are not familiar.
1. To fuse items, they must be the same item. It cannot be a Red China and a Brown China. It must be Red China and Red China or Brown China and Brown China. Stats can be different.

2. You will need 1-4 Alchemist Stones to fuse one item. (Level 1-30: one, Level 30-70: two, Level 71-120: three, Level 120+: four)
These stones are purchase-able from Nack in Ardentmill.

3. To begin, open your inventory next to the huge book at the bottom left-hand corner of Ardentmill and press the button with an icon of a potion bottle with a plus. It will open up a menu with two squares. Place the two of the same equips you have in the boxes and click "ok."

4. Item with no potential + item with no potential = Small chance of an item with potential.

5. Item with potential + item with no potential = Small chance of an item with potential. (Same as above)

6. Item with Potential + item with potential = Extremely high chance of item with potential. (Not quite 100%.)

7. Potential rank / Lines does not affect outcome.

[h=info]Miscellaneous[/h]
Here's just a few more extra tips to help you make mesos. I will update this as I find more little tips.
Azwan PQ
Getting your daily 150 coins can help a lot to getting Azwan scrolls. Per day, you could be getting anywhere from BLANK to BLANK scrolls depending on the type you choose. Be sure to think about the current class breakup. (Ie. If many LUK users are around, buy LUK scrolls.)
Sell fame
Make sure to find someone reliable who will buy fame from you. It is a little extra cash in your pocket. Just do not be discouraged if they run off with your fame. Either ask for the mesos first, or just shrug it off if they run off with your fame. Note: Reporting them is not a good idea because Nexon specifically states that they will not look into fame scams.
Pick up mesos from popular training areas
This will also give you a pretty penny. During x2 especially, popular training maps are littered with mesos that will be left on the floor, to decompose and return to monsters. Crying in recognition of the fact that pressing "z" on them was too much to ask for. Do the mesos a favor and pick them up. Be sure to ask the people currently in the map if that is alright with them. Do not try to take any valuable items from them, however.

Some nice looting areas are:
CDs in Kerning Square Mall
Mysterious Path 3 in Singapore
Alien Base Corridor 5 and 6
Monster Park
With the new update, Monster Park has become an even better mode of making mesos. The equips that drop always have potential. If you want, you can sell the items with hidden potential or reveal them and hope for a nice potential.

[h=info]Final Words[/h]
Ah...Finally done reading this guide. Congrats to those who made it! Here's just a few last thoughts that will help you continue to make mesos.
Oh...and Jacky....One.....More....Thing....
Be inventive when trying to make mesos. Even if it means losing a little bit. You might find something that works.

Be cheap. Don't buy potions that heal more than you need. If you have only 4,000 HP, don't buy Reindeer Milk. Or just make you own.

DO EVENTS DO EVENTS DO EVENTS DO EVENTS DO EVENTS Got it? Good.

Set goals. (EX. I will make 10 mil by the end of the week.) It really helps.

Once this is all done, you can try merching (ew </3).
Just surf the Free Market to get familiar with pricing and buy low sell high. (Yes, I used a trite and over-used phrase)
Also, come to Basil Market for help and price checks.
There are more in depth-guides to merching, but that's not what this guide is concerned about.

[h=info]Closure[/h]
Thanks for taking the time to read this guide and I hope you enjoyed earning quite a few million mesos. This is my first guide, so please comment with pointers and things that need to be fixed (Grammar, spelling, organization, ambiguity, etc). If this helped you, please comment so that other Basilers can learn how to make mesos as well. Thanks again.

Wow! I was subconsciously following the Nimble Ring II/Intermediate Crystals idea, just with other stuff i had crafted. Thanks for pulling it out of my mind, i might use it now!
