Note

Thank you Mods (or Mr. Basil) for stickying this guide and saving it from it's impending doom as it was locked and falling farther and farther into the depths of nothingness. I can't thank you enough! :-D

I would like to thank everyone that stays active on this thread and answers others' questions. Also, I have now realized that only experienced players should have HP Warriors. Sure, it's cool to be able to kill anything in the game within a week or two, but when you're first starting out, that ruins the game for you. Please, make a normal build character and level him/her appropriately before attempting an HP Warrior. It will be much easier for you in the long-run. Thanks!

Introduction

HP Warriors are one of those classes you hear your pro friends talking about while you stare at them in confusion. Well, I created this guide so more people will know what a HP Warrior is as well as how to make one. HP Warriors have 35 STR, 4 INT, 4 DEX, & 4 LUK...for life. If you don't like the sounds of that, a HP Warrior may not be for you. The main attack of a HP Warrior up until level 31 is Slash Blast. After 31: Power Guard. Yes, Power Guard... that skill Fighters & Pages use to take a little less damage and to deal out a little more. What does that mean for you? That means you will never kill a monster in less than 10 hits...it is impossible with Power Guard. But it also means that you can train anywhere you want :-) And last, but most defintely not least, HP Warrior get their name because they have a godly amount of HP. How much is godly? Well, let's just say I had 8,100 HP after my 2nd Job Advancement.

If you have no idea what a HP Warrior is nor how it is beneficial, check the FAQ.

Which Class to Choose?

This question is sure to start a flame war if you ask it. I'll give you the facts and you can decide for yourself.

Spearman
Spearmen are completely useless as a HP Warrior. They don't have an attack and won't gain exp from their parties kills (unless the party is training on lower level stuff). It would completely defeat the purpose of a HP Warrior. Therefore, I will not include a skill build for a Spearman HP Warrior.

Table of Contents

Page
Pages have 2 skills that will benefit a HP Warrior. The first is the required skill: Power Guard. Power Guard, when maxed, returns 40% of the damage received (20% versus boss monsters). So, if a monster hit you for 1000 melee damage (physical), your HP would lower by 600 and you would hit the monster for 400 damage (no more than 10% of monsters MaxHP). This comes in quite handy for boss battles such as Zakum. Also, pages have Threaten, which lowers the enemies W.Attack & W.Defense. Although this seems like it would be great, it isn't as great as it sounds for HP Warriors. If you lower the enemie's attack power, this will also lower the damage you return and absorb (priests love characters that absorb a lot of damage). Threaten will, however, be useful for your party members. It will not help you if you go solo (why would you go solo with a HP Warrior anyways?). Pages get a MP boost at Job Advancement. Although some choose to use the Page build for HP Warriors, it is not recommended (rage > threaten), ergo I will not be including a 3rd or 4th job build for it.

Table of Contents

Fighter
Fighters are the usual choice for HP Warriors. Fighters not only have Power Guard (required for a HP Warrior, explanation above), but they also have Rage. Rage isn't just a great skill for HP Warriors by lowering their own W.Defense and ergo raising the amount of damage the return/absorb, but Rage is also a favorite among PQers and Parties (both training and boss parties). Fighter is, in my opinion, the most obvious choice for the second job due to Rage giving you negative defense. Also, Fighters receive a HP Boost unlike Pages, which receive a MP Boost (not needed for a HP Warrior).

Table of Contents

Ability Points

Character Creation
- STR: 13 (11-13)
- DEX: 4 (4-6)
- INT: 4 (4-6)
- LUK: 4

Many people decide to have higher DEX/INT for one of two reasons. Either they didn't want to take the time to roll perfect stats or they wanted the ACC boost of DEX (0.8 ACC / DEX) or the MP boost of INT (would love an exact number if anyone knows it). Whatever you choose to do, remember this: As you get closer and closer to perfect stats (13/4/4/4), the higher HP you will have. The reason I have LUK set to 4 (no range possible as with DEX and INT) is because LUK adds avoid which decreases the rate of Power Guard working. Remember: Avoid and Defense are bad for HP Warriors.

Table of Contents

Level Up
- +5 STR until STR = 35
- Save all AP until level 15... place into HP at 15
- +5 HP after level 15 until level 65ish (or sooner)

Table of Contents

Level 4: 1 Recovery (3 MAX)
Level 5: 1 Nimble Feet (1)
Level 6: 1 Nimble Feet (2)
Level 7: 1 Nimble Feet (3 MAX)

I've had a lot of people tell me that Recovery is useless for HP Warriors. As true as this may be after level 15, it will help a great deal prior to that. As an example, I NEVER used HP Potions on my HP Warrior prior to level 30. I just used Recovery whenever I needed and The Relaxer when Recovery was still in cool-down mode. As for why I chose Nimble Feet over 3 Snails: At level 21, you will want to do Kerning Party Quest (especially if you don't have any friends to leech off of). For *some* reason, people don't appreciate a HP Warrior joining a party for KPQ and not helping (which is impossible due to being DEXless). Since you will almost never meet a leader nice enough to gather tickets for you, you will need to lead the party yourself. You won't need either 3 Snails or Nimble Feet for this, but after you finish the first PQ, you will realize just how useful Nimble Feet can be as you race back to the PQ area to rush back in. Remember: There is a 15 minute cool-down period for this skill (approximately the length of KPQ).

Final
- Improving HP Recovery: 5-10
- Improving Max HP Increase: Max 10
- Slash Blast: Max 20
- Power Strike: Max 20
- Endure: 1-6

You must follow this build exactly up until at least level 15 or you will greatly lower your max HP. After level 15, you can choose to go the Slash Blast route (highly recommended) or the Power Strike route. After maxing one of those skills, you can either max the other attack skill (recommended) or you can max Endure / Improving HP Recovery. You won't really notice much of a difference when you are training at something other than Slimes/KPQ, but it will be working in the background all the time. Don't you love passive skills? :-P

That's about the best build you could go as a HP Sader. The build is based around early leeching, and if you'd rather train solo then you can move Combo and Coma up before Shout. However, if you've made it to 3rd Job, I'd suggest against following a guide. You should go with what's most fun for you.

How to Train

- Bring a lot of potions.
- Listen to your party.
- Have All Cures available in case you need them.
- Don't be lazy, mob the monsters for the party.

Here is a list of some common training spots as well as an explanation of what to do at each area.

Table of Contents

Slimes
Use slash blast to kill mobs (groups) of slimes. If you are in a crowded server, try to get the top or bottom of the slime tree (best mobbing spot).

Table of Contents

F/P Mage @ Squids
Party with a F/P Mage & a Cleric with max heal. The cleric should stand in the center box (safe-spot) while the F/P uses Poison Myst on the squids. Once the Poison Myst has begun to have its effects, go around killing of each and every one. Whenever you or the F/P Mage get low on HP, just walk past the Cleric. Use as much DEF equip as possible (only need to do 1 damage). Cleric and You will train extremely fast. F/P will also love you since they don't need to worry about you dying.

Table of Contents

Master Death Teddies
To party a priest at MDT, along with almost any other Ludi Dungeon monster, you will need to do a couple things. First off, do not rely on your priest to heal you. If you get to a low HP and your priest is not nearby, use a potion. Now, as for the actual training, keep Power Guard enabled and go around mobbing every platform (yes, even the bottom). After you mob each platform, wait for the priest to catch up. Once the priest uses HS and Heal, continue on to the next platform. Once you reach the top, jump down to the bottom and repeat.

Table of Contents

Thanatos
Thanatos is much easier to kill than the Gatekeeper. You may want to bring some All Cures in case he uses seal, but besides that, you don't have much to worry about. Just watch your HP and make sure you don't die :-P

Completing the Second Job Advancement Test

Completing the Second Job Advancement Test is very difficult due to having such low accuracy. To make up for this, you will need to do one of two things. You can either get the appropiate equipment or get a friend to help you. Details are below.

To hit the boars/lupins 100%, you will need 43 ACC (1 DEX = 0.8 ACC, 54 DEX = 43.2 ACC)

Table of Contents

Equipment Needed
- Pig Illustrated (Level 25, 10 ACC, 42 ATK) or Pumpkin Spear (Level 25, 15 ACC, 1 STR, 47 ATK)
- Juno or WG scrolled 100% for ACC (5 ACC, 35k each * 5)
- Sauna scrolled 100% for DEX (8 ACC, 35k each * 10)
- Red Headband (1 ACC) or Brown Bandana (5 acc, expensive) or Black-Red Starry Bandana (10 acc, not out yet?)
- Sniper Pill (10 acc)
- Total: 34-58 ACC = 56% - 100% Hit Ratio Approx.

Table of Contents

Potions Needed
- 60+ Ginseng Roots (or Elixirs)
- 200+ Blue Potions
- 10+ Sniper Potions
- 10+ Warrior Elixirs

Other Ways to Complete
The only other way to do this is to have someone help you with the Job Advancement. How? Well, you can either find a random person that is getting the Job Advancement at the same time as you or you can get a friend that has a non-advanced level 30 warrior to help you. Now here's the tricky part. Whether you find a random person or a friend, you will have to do two things in order for this to work. You will both have to be in the same channel and then you have to get on the same map. It is quite easy to be in the same channel as someone, but you will have to exit and enter mutiple times to get on the same map. Make sure only one person leaves and enters again. If you both exit, it is more difficult to appear on the same map. Oh, and you have to talk the person into spending twice as long in the Job Advancement Test map to help you ;-P

Solo Training: Level 31+
Although training on your own is very expensive, sometimes it is the only way you can train (if you can't find a party). Since you want to have the highest possible damage when training on your own, you do not want to wear any DEF or LUK equipment. An earring with a high M.DEF is recommended because Magic Attacks do nothing for your damage.

Suggested Equipment
- Top: none (0 DEF)

Priest Training: Level 31+
Since training on your own is so expensive, another alternative is to train with a Priest. Many Priests are skeptical at first, for good reason. Although the Priest will gain massive amounts of EXP from healing you, the damage they deal with Heal is decreased. The only other reason a Priest would party you (other than helping out) is because you can mob the enemies while he/she kills. Many HP Warriors don't like to leave their Priest's side, because that means they have to heal themselves. Well, I hate to break it to you, but you're going to have to heal yourself sometimes. Also, I suggest possibly wearing some DEF equipment so you can still be by the Priest's side without lowering the damage too much.

Suggested Equipment
- Top: none (0 DEF)
- Bottom: none (0 DEF)
- Overall: Sauna Robe scrolled for DEF or LUK (avoid)
- Hat: Pig Headband (+50 HP, 12 DEF) or Bone Helm (Speed +8, Jump +5)
- Shoes: Any shoes, Red Snoeshoes will work if they are scrolled
- Glove: Work Glove (any color)
- Earring: Highest Level Earring You Can Wear

Table of Contents

Party Training: Level 31+
If you find training alone with a Priest to be too slow, try training with an entire party. A Dragon Knight and Priest are recommended due to the large amounts of money they will save you. It is usually pretty easy to find a DK and Priest training together, but it isn't so easy to talk them into training with you. If you can, I suggest training in a party rather than with a Priest alone. Since the Priest will not be the person doing the majority of the damage (in parties, they normally don't attack as much), you can go with your 0 DEF equipment to help out the Priest with leveling.

Suggested Equipment
- Top: none (0 DEF)
- Bottom: none (0 DEF)
- Overall: Groomsman's Suit OR Bridesmaid's Dress (100k each, 0 DEF)

Tired of training like all of the other classes? Well, I have good news. As a HP Warrior, you can actually fight in boss parties, rather than just sitting and watching (Zakum for example). Since, in a boss party, the Priest will not be the one dealing out the majority of the damage (if any at all), feel free to wear your 0 DEF equipment. The priest will love you :-)

Suggested Equipment
- Top: none (0 DEF)
- Bottom: none (0 DEF)
- Overall: Groomsman's Suit OR Bridesmaid's Dress (100k each)
- Hat: Bone Helm (Speed +8, Jump +5)
- Shoes: Red Snowshoes (Level 30, 0 W.DEF/avoid/LUK, high speed/jump)
- Glove: none (0 DEF)
- Earring: Highest Level Earring You Can Wear (0 W.DEF/avoid/LUK)

Approximate HP Values (after AP)

These values are approximate values. If your MaxHP is anywhere near these values at the appropriate level (higher is always better), then you didn't mess up your HP Warrior. If your MaxHP is more than a few hundred less than the MaxHP specified below, you may want to consider restarting your character. As long as your MaxHP is around the correct level at Level 15, you shouldn't have to worry about it anymore in the future. ^.^

Level 15: 2900
Level 20: 4500
Level 25: 6200
Level 30: 7800 (before adv)
Level 30: 8100 (after adv [fighter])

FAQ

Post your questions and someone will answer them for you.

How do you attack a monster with Power Guard?
You attack a monster by simply walking into them. You return 40% of the damage received (no more than 10% of the enemy's MaxHP).

You say that Power Guard returns 40% of the damage received, yet when I am fighting a boss, it only returns 20% of the damage. Why is this?
As with many other skills (seal for example), bosses follow different rules. When fighting a boss, you only return 20% of the damage received.

If it takes a minimum of 10 hits to hit ANY enemy, how can I train efficiently?
HP Warriors are not intended to train by themselves. The reason HP Warriors can be successful is due to the fact that Priests gain exp from healing. Since you have negative defense and a ton of HP, the EXP is godly for them. You gain EXP from each enemy killed by your party that you hit (touched).

Does Power Guard cause the monster to attack you with magic like a normal attack would?
Most definitely. You will learn this very quickly when you're walking past monsters with PG turned on and they all go psycho and begin to attack/follow you :-P

Just how strong are HP Warriors?
Well, you can solo just about any enemy at level 31. Power Guard isn't effecient until at least level 5 in my opinion because before that, it lasts less than 15 seconds.

Why would I want to make a HP Warrior if I already have a Fighter/Page?
A HP Warrior can solo a rog at 31 (by spamming PG) and can actually participate in a Zakum Run at level 50. Also, they have a lower death rate than a Spearman. And if you really want to know the best part...you can go AFK for 1.5 minutes at a time and actually train without being there! You may die and anger a lot of people by doing so though.

Wouldn't a HP Spearman be better than a HP Fighter/Page because of HB?
Although HP Spearman would be great for Priests, they would be helpless on their own and could not train. Power Guard, a HP Warrior's only attack, is only available to Fighters and Pages. Without Power Guard, a HP Warrior would not gain EXP from a party member's kill unless it was within 5 levels of himself or herself (which is highly unlikely).

Why do I have to wait until level 15 to add AP into HP?
Prior to level 15, you do not yet have Improving Max Hp Increase maxed, so your HP would not be as high as someone that waited until it was maxed (at level 15).

Will Priests actually want to train with me if I create a HP Warrior and get it to 31+?
This really depends on the Priest. Some are skeptical and won't even test it. Others are latched onto their DK and do whatever the DK wants. Luckily, there are a few out there that will test it...some find it to be better EXP...others don't. I suggest, if you are doing normal training in a party/with a priest, not to have more than 1 HP Warrior in the party. This will slow down the EXP for both you and the Priest. Personally, I have found that HP Warriors are more of a bossing class rather than a normal training class.

Why did you make this guide?
In all honesty, I was tired of seeing people say things like "n00b you n33d accruacy" or "y0u ph4il" when I told them what a HP Warrior was. I also hope this guide will help someone with creating their own HP Warrior.

Which do you believe is better? A Red Whip or Emergency Rescue Tube?
Personally, I believe a Red Whip is much better than an ERT for a HP Warrior. The 150 HP boost is nice, but 15 speed would be more helpful. Unlike other classes, HP Warriors have little worries about the amount of HP they have, so they can worry about other things, such as Speed & Jump. A HP Warrior would greatly benefit from a Speed boost because then he/she could hit more monsters quick and ergo gain more EXP faster.

Is it possible to make an Unfunded HP Warrior?
It is very possible. I currently have an unfunded HP Warrior in Mardia. At level 21, I had approximately 350k mesos. The reason for this amount of money was due to the fact that I only used HP Potions for a limited period (2 levels at most) simply to train a friend. Also, getting lucky with Kerning Party Quest's Bonus Items helps a lot as well.

What? You can't hit Thanatos at level 31!
Actually, yes you can. Power Guard has 100% accuracy*.
*It will never miss an enemy that has more than 10 HP and can hit you for 2 HP.

I'm confused. Does this mean I'll be wearing the same equip as a beginner for my life as a HP Warrior?
No. At level 10, you should wear the level 10 warrior equip (which requires low STR) and at level 15, you should be wearing the level 15 warrior equip (only if you have the Stars & Stripes). Once you arrive at level 31, you will have a set of DEF equip (priest partying) and a set of non-DEF equipment (bossing/solo/full party).

Is it difficult to level a HP Warrior?
Before level 31, it isn't what I would call difficult, but it is time consuming. Once you start getting PG, training gets quicker... and more expensive.

Is it possible to create a warrior with 25 base STR and a Stars and Stripes (+10 str) equipped?
No. I had a friend of mine test this and it is not possible. You must have a base STR of 35.

What is the maximum HP you can have?
You can never go past 30,000 HP. Even with Hyper Body and HP Equips, 30,000 HP is the maximum you can have. I suggest 18,750 as the goal you want for your HP. Anything past this is a waste of AP points since 18,750 would give you 30,000 with Hyper Body.

Is it possible for an HP Warrior to use SP Resets at Level 30 to max PG immediately?
No. If you have ever looked at SP Resets, they are for each of the Skill Books and cannot transfer Skill Points between Skill Books.

You all are going to hate me for this. Not to be rude but i have a 66 hp warrior and half of this stuff does not apply like pqs for instance. Nobody unless friends want you there. And in second job as long as you max power guard first it doesnt matter where you put your points as long as you finish with the basic skills. and extra tip on the guide fish spears and pumpkin spears are good for 30- also.

Pig beach is also a very good training spot for 15-20. and zombie mushrooms or wild boars at 20-30 if you can get the accuracy.
