I just watched Sucker punch

and this is the first movie that my mind can't get wrapped around (This is coming from someone that completely got Inception).

From the people who have watched it so far, what did you think of it? Why did you want to watch it? Also, what were your expectations for the movie and did they change afterwards?

A: I think in the aspect that it was one big metaphor for her fight in the place she was in, it was actually quite a magnificent movie in that aspect. I feel that the idea of the heavy fight scenes made me forget what the movie was really about. Overall, if I had to rate it out of 5, I would give it a 4 - but only because of its excellent use of imagery and symbolism.

A: Despite belief that 99.9% of teenage boys watching it for the flesh and skin under the skimpy costumes, this was not the case (I count for 0.01% of that population). I think the fight scenes got me in the most but the symbolism got me in further. I like movies with an alternate reality which this movie has plenty of.

A: I can't really explain it, but they were certainly changed. I was thinking the alternate reality they belong to would've clashed with reality and perhaps changed the world forever. I never really watched the director's previous movies like 300 and Watchman, but I did know that the director focused on distopian communities and always added had a 'dark' feeling to the movie. Overall, it exceeds my expectations but not in a good way.

Well, that's all for me. Just leave a comment on the bottom

Thanks,
SoulDriving.

Maybe I would.

Thing is, I would tell myself I would watch that movie but I don't end up doing that. The best movie for me of all time is the remake of Tron. I'd say Sucker punch would be up there. It almost made me cry and was a bit sad, but I thought it made good use of special effects (like someone said) and symbolism made it worth the 2-3 hrs I spent watching it.
