Getting piercing

on my ear again. I got my left ear pierced about 3 years ago and i ended up taking it out after about a month cuz of the pain(even after cleaning 2x a day).
Well..I'm thinking about getting it pierced again soon..for those who have their ears pierced..how do u take care of ur ears the right way without getting infection?
and how long do u have to clean it for? like u can't just cotton swab it 2x with alchol for the rest of ur life AIR?

you probably don't want to twist the piercing, it's totally unnecessary and can actually do damage and prolong healing time
try to avoid low quality acrylic/plastic at least at first, go for glass or surgical steel and switch out to whatever you want after 6 or so months, when they're completely healed

@Genji:
1. 2-3 times a day like another person in the thread suggested (personally i cleaned it a bit more than that since the stuff felt soothing on my hot red ears anyway)
2. you can even start twisting as soon as it hurts a little less cause you don't want to leave it stuck to your ear for months before finally taking it out
3. if you take it out too early and don't wear something in replacement of the earring, the hole's going to close up pretty quickly cause it's still fairly fresh "wound" for lack of a better word
4. if you must take your earring out for bed or you're starting to get an infection, those plastic plugs (i only know that they're sold in asia or you can get them online) really help. your ears are most likely not going to get irritated from them, it won't feel/look like you're wearing something.. while preserving the hole

@geologyrox: pretty sure no one takes half a year for a standard earlobe piercing to heal... assuming that's what ts is getting. and obviously don't twist an earring that's newly pierced.. i thought that's obvious?
- try not to go to a weird sketchy place to get it pierced
- clean a few times a day for 3 months
- don't sleep on the side that you got the piercing
- after a month or so begin lightly twisting the earring so that it's not practically glued to your ear (this will loosen it up a bit so you could change your earring with ease after you're fully healed)
- some people get infections from wearing plastic/stainless steel/sterling silver earrings and can only wear gold/white gold
- you can't go wrong with these http://i.imgur.com/HHlRxIU.jpg
-clean ears few times a day for 3 months?
-so before the end of the first month i cant twist my earring or take it out before i sleep?
-whats are those things in the pic? where do u buy em?

Just get some salt water and dip your ear in it to clean it. 2 piercings on my left, 1 on my right. Gonna get 1 more on my left and a lip piercing and im done i think

basically don't buy any of the gimmicky "specially-formulated" piercing rinse/sprays from the shop, they're likely just salt water, and if they're not you don't want em anyway
rinse w/ warm water in the shower and do one or two sea salt soaks a day and stop using alcohol wtf

I got my ears pierced at the mall it was fine. I cleaned them morning and night for like 2-3 months honestly and I never had problems. NEVER take them out for the first like 3 months for too long tbh I didn't. After that you can take them out for as long as u want to (less than like a week tho they might close up). I feel like taking them out every so often they feel uncomfortable. I have diamond studs

which part of your ear? I just got my helix done last month and during the first couple of weeks I cleaned the piercing with antibacterial soap 2 times a day and sea salt soak 2-3 times a day. after that I got lazy with the soaks and just clean with soap. no infection so far. oh yeah and when I talked to the piercer, he told me that alcohol and tea tree oil are too strong to use on new piercings.
