It started out as a speedpaint, but I got carried away for 5+ hours. Ugh, I still need to work on a lot of things--like perspective and lighting. The picture was a tedious job--because I suck at backgrounds and painting rocky textures in general, but I enjoyed working on it overall. ^_^

This is very impressive as a painting, a real master piece. So many detail that you have already achieved and even the technique are amazing.

And to answer your question: This picture was done in Paint Tool SAI, but I did underly the sky with some cloud resource images I picked out from Deviantart--more out of frustration at my inability to paint it, lol. If you wanted constructive criticism: Something I noticed you try to do was show dust particles in the light. One suggestion would be to amplify the light a little bit or make the dust particles glow a bit more. Right now they seem the slightest bit unnatural.
