How would you guys react/What should I do?
So this week, my school's robotics team met up to create our webpage. I've already had prior experience coding in html, css, and js, so I was supposed to do all of the major coding. Well, I completed the layout, functions, and almost all aspects of the webpage, I only had to insert the text into some of the sections. I asked my friend to write up some text to put into these sections (About Us, etc) so that I could put it into the website. He did that and I finished the website, but now he's claiming that he did the majority of the work for the website and saying that all I did was screw around.

Okay, thanks for the help guys; I'll be be meeting my adviser and the other student tomorrow and I'll show them my files. I've known this guy for 8 years now and he's always been sort of awkward and reclusive but pretty friendly. Idk, I guess people change. Thanks for the input.
DrHye I'd stack the blame on TS. If he's too much of a baby to stand up for himself, then perhaps losing his position will be something of a wake up call. If he presents a good case to his advisors and they still stand by their original decision, he's free to up and leave for a new team, but as it stands, TS is just scared.
@georgehe4 Be a man for god's sake. I can't even feel sorry for you right now. You did the work. Go show them the code, explain to them the code, challenge your partner to do the same, show them the files you have, etc etc. Doesn't matter if he's got favor with the advisors. When you go find a real job, you're not going to know the boss either, and there are going to be coworkers who have already established a good relationship with said boss. Are you going to stand by and get fired if your coworkers somehow decide to get you offed, or are you going to stand by and let your coworker take a promotion (meaning he gets your money) for the work you did?
I agree with your point as well, but as someone who spent all four years of high school on robotics, it's still disappointing to hear that students are taking credit for others' hard work. You'd think robotics would consist of the best of kids, then stuff like this happens. But yeah, I already said the TS needs to find a way to prove he did the work he's not being credited for
His entire team? As I understand OP, only his friend is corrupt.
FRC team mentors shouldn't be blindly assuming what one student says is true. Especially if a student says that someone else only screws around doing nothing. They should at least consider the possibility that they're not hearing the truth and that there's two sides to every story.
Well he is screwed cuz im pre sure he dont know how to do anything or make up a test in which who did the rit codeing right
call his bluff and tell him to show the adminstrators how he did everything from scratch
His entire team? As I understand OP, only his friend is corrupt.
none of them believe him so it doesnt matter. Bro i suggest you go to a better team.
You NEED to talk to the advisors, doesn't matter if you're close to them or not. Nothings gonna happen if you don't stand up for yourself. If they don't believe you just quit the team and take your talents elsewhere, where people will actually appreciate you.
PLEASE READ THIS.
Are you still in school? Hey, if someone was to tell you to create a website for him that is sortve..like a bank account type of thing, with securities and such and accounting and able to cash in and out, would u be able to do it? how much would u charge?
I've been with my school's chapter for 2 years now, and I wouldn't know how to coordinate travel and everything with joining another team... My school's admin and friends will prob hate me too >.>
@georgehe4: Well, I stand by what I said if worse comes to worse, see if another local team would take you in. It's almost not worth sticking with a team as corrupt as yours sounds, but the experience is still amazing if you love working on the team and can share the experience with friends. I wouldn't suggest sabotage because in the end, it'll make you look guilty from the start
present him the website with only his plain text and tell him hes right
Scrolling down to comment to this topic.. and this is what I was going to suggest! LOOL Greaat HIGHFIVE!
Yeah, it's the FIRST robotics competition. The thing is, the other person is better acquainted with the officers and advisers... he's in the officer's circle of friends (they're all band people) and the advisers(who are also teachers) have taught him before, but they don't really know me.
Millions? What?
lol you obv play with robots too
Millions? What?
It's not to say that he'll actually get millions, but there's so many scholarships that robotics students are able to apply for, just for being a robotics team member. Dean Kamen and the other FIRST board members have said that the total amount in scholarships available reach that high. Again, that's not to say the TS will actually get millions in scholarships himself.
This is happening because you're too unassertive.
Go up to your supervisors and tell them: Look, I did all the HTML work. I did the functions, the layout, the coding. If your "friend" can do the same, then ask your supervisors "why do you believe him over me? He says he did all the work, but does he have proof? I did the coding, the HTML work, everything, and it's a bit infuriating to hear that I did absolutely nothing." If your friend cannot do the same, then tell your supervisors "listen, he can't even code, so if I really did just loiter around and do nothing, then all he would have is some typed out text."
No don't change anything. If it was already presented to them then they will know it was you and you'll get in trouble. Just tell the advisers what happened, I'm sure you had to work hard to get to web master so why would they believe that you slacked off. If you have it saved in increments, show them that.
You'll need 3 steps to exact revenge upon this abomination you dare call a friend.
1. Photoshop his face unto an adult rated picture. Make sure you blur all the genitals and breasts.
2. Post it on the website.
3. Write embarrassing secrets about your so called friend.
Is this an FIRST Robotics team?
Tell one of the adults in charge what's going on and show what you had prepared before anything was actually built. If you have anything that can prove the parts you made were actually yours, show them. It's unfair for someone to be taking credit for your work, especially in something as important as robotics, and you should do everything to fight it. If worse comes to worse, consider trying to join a team at another school if they'd let you.
I was on a FRC team, and the kids that do absolutely nothing, then act like they care about robotics or the competitions, are just annoying as hell
@HolyJunker: lmao @ millions of dollars in scholarship available to him when he's older
lmao @ robotics team
You tell the team that
The thing is he's telling my adviser and all the officers that he did all the work and that I just hindered him, so they're demoting me from being web master now and promoting him...
Take off his text and copy-pasta an article about penguins
