How does Ignore Def stat work?

So on my mech I have a range of 180k and 150% boss. I also noticed that I have 107% ignore def. What exactly does it do and does it even do anything over 100%. In my head Im thinking it ignores all the defense of a mob at 100%? Idk

@geovanny7: don't worry, most people will never deal with a ridiculously high PDR monster like Chaos Vellum. general bosses that the masses can handle have less than 100 PDR. some harder ones might have 120 PDR. using ~70% Ignore, you'll be able to do 64% if your max dmg here against a 120 PDR monster.

@geovanny7:

Well you can round it off to 70% if you want, but it really doesn't matter.

70% is pretty decent for most situations, but when we take chaos vellum as an example: 300 x 0.7 = 210. 300- 210 = 90. So even with all that defense ignore, you'd only do 10% of what you normally do on vellum. That's before factoring in physical resist. meaning that you'd do 5% of what you normally do.
so just using the formula posted...we get
1-(1-0.3)(1-0.3)(1-0.1)(1-0.1)(1-0.1)(1-0.06)(1-0.05)(1-0.05)(1-0.01) <- you forgot about ambition, which I included as 1%
that's 69.9999% Ignore.
against CVellum, that means his PDR is reduced from 300 to 90.0026 PDR. meaning you'll deal 10% of your maximum dmg.
Wow thats so low xD Idk what this Cvellium boss is tho lol since I just came back to playing and only have been leveling. Is this boss meant to be this hard/has it been killed in na regularly?
All that stuff gives you 69.7% defense ignore, you can work the rest out yourself.
Oh I used your formula and I got 0.6969696969 <--lol so shouldnt it be 70%

Nvm I think I read your comment wrong I thought you said 66%. This is fairly high right? Idk what usual people have
Well I looked through all my stuff and I have PDR from: 30% Codex, 30% Overclock skill passive, 10% Gun, 10%link, 10%hat, 6% Pirate way S, 5% shirt, 5% pants= 106% pdr? idk why it says I have 107. Can anyone use a boss like Chaos Vellum as an example with my stuff

It means you need 300% ignore to break all of their defense and do full damage
That is incorrect, % defense ignore does not work like that.

%defense ignore is multiplicative meaning that the value of 107% you see in your stats window is incorrect.

To get your actual %ignore, use this formula:

1 - (1-a) x (1-b) x (1-c)..... etc. a,b and c represent your sources of %ignore.

If you had two sources of def ignore, let's say the lumi link skill (15%) and 30% on your weapon.

1 - (1-0.15) x (1-0.3) = 0.405 or 40.5% ignore.

This way you can never actually have 100% def ignore, you can get close but never 100%.

Zakum has 40 defense. With 40.5% def ignore, you'd ignore 40 x 0.405 = 16.2 defense leaving him with 23.8 defense. You'd be doing 100-23.8 = 76.2% of what you normally do in this case.

For a boss like chaos vellum, it'd be 300 x 0.405 = 121.5 leaving him with (300-121.5) 178.5 defense. which is over 100 meaning that you'll only be doing 1's on him

You can also look at it the way @davexd94 described it. You'll end up with the same numbers in the end, but once you find out your %def ignore you can figure out the rest pretty easily.

I found this hard too Just because you have 100% PDR does not mean you ignore 100% DEF lets say you have 100% pdr like this you have 45% on weapon 10% on link skill 15% on Neb and 30% on 2ndary [ i know these are not true just a example ] You take 100% of the DEF lets say its 1000, eash point of PDR is taken off by itsself so take away 45% that you have on weapon of 1000 leaving 550 then you you take 10% from link skill from 550 leaving 495 then 15% from Neb leaving 420.75 then 30% from 2ndary Leaving around 394 DEF, i know the math might not be right but you get the idea. hope this helps.
So what does my 107% ignore do? What do bosses usually have and normal mobs like in HoH? I thought mine was pretty high
its somewhat high but c-vellum is stupidly strong, so as cpb.
