are the designs of cannons released allready? or is it your own work?
still nicely done, i get 3dmax at school, awesome program!

No lie, this is exactly what I was thinking. The metal needs a bit more shine to lose the rubbery sex-toy look.
Other than that, good job!
It looks nice. Just a few suggestions:
Bigger hole
Better texture on the metal
Studs on the metal

I knew they would make a cannon wielding class.
Add the silver bolts to it, and change the lighting style and make it more glossy for the metal parts, to make it more like metal.
When making these you should bump the textures so it dont look so flat. Also leaving the textures given to you by the program you used to make this aint smart cause then it looks clay like and you dont want that. You also forgot to add the screws on the tips.I recommend you make CrazyBump your friend so that you textures look realistic. If you dont know what crazybump check google for full details but ill give you a short version it simply allows for details on your textures and gives you multipliable layers of your texture so that it can look much more detailed like for example the cracks on the wood and the way the metal looks when the light hits it etc.

Do you guys happen to know a good tutorial on how to make your own material, or a thorough guide of material mapping of some sort?
I dunno about 3DsMax but I know that UV Mapping works the same in Maya and 3DsMax. What you can then do is use the same material, except that you can paint it as you wish either on Photoshop or your software of preference. That would enable you to add in scratches (by bump mapping or displacement mapping), or even your name somewhere on the texture without it being deformed. I've never used 3DsMax, but in Maya, good shaders for Metal include Blinn & Phong E, as well as mia_material_x under Mental Ray. Try looking up on Youtube tutorials on UV Mapping on 3DsMax. I could send you some good ones, but they are for Maya and the tools differ a bit, even though it's sorta the same process. Anyway, good stuff.
Edit: On a side note; I may be wrong but it looks like you're using a 100% white light. If you want a more realistic look, lights are never 100% white, so changing the tone a bit would make a difference. That's just me though, I prefer photorealism over the cartoon style look.
The wood looks pretty good, since you can see the details of it. However the iron parts are... well.. not detailed at all.
You could try making it with some extra nails in there, make it a tad less round. ;o (more like a Hexagon, because its impossible to have a perfectly round cannon if its made out of wood -and- iron. ;O )
The Shadows are done pretty good, on a side note.
I guess it does look like it, but it lacks a realistic feel...or...something like that...x_x
Overall I think it's pretty good!
I think in the future you should work more on rendering the metal portions so that they look more like metal. I think at the moment they're a little bit too smooth. Seeing some of the texture and bolts on the metal portion of the actual weapon would've been nice too. Otherwise, it looks great.

Dwarven Hand Cannon? O_o
Looks kind of funny but overall its okay
so i like and i havent seen anything better yet so its alright
Not sure why, but it reminds me of a toilet... o3o...
ya i can see why xD
The class looks ridiculously cheap but I still can't wait to make one! This is a great 3d model~ Can't wait to see what you make next.
one question does cannon shooter use dex or str
Strength.
OT: Looks nice, except for the fact it looks like something that was made in china and sold for $0.50
It's nice, but it lacks detail. The wood part is fine, it's the metal that's bothersome. You're missing several nails, hinges, screws, etc. And the metal isn't all connected so easily, you should make some lines of separation on that.
it looks like a flesh light

Your basil id looks cheap.
+1 like good job dude, may I request that you do one of the level 120 reverse cannon? it looks so futuristic

I don't know much about 3D modeling, but the metal doesn't look very much like metal
You should make furies next
That's really nice. ^__^
