I have fun with this game when I'm doing what I want but I always feel like I have to do something to increase my damage like leveling Link Skill characters or selling stuff.

I actually love this game, why would someone play if they can't have fun?
I played maplestory, and 10 of my dorm neighbors joined, and we're all having fun

It's hard to have fun when no one is on.

Personally, I've quit for about 3 months now because of a multitude of reasons:

1. Intense town lag which started at the beginning of 2013. I was forced to be confined to aqua road because that's like the only town without the NPCs which cause me to lag heavily. The town lag made the game way less playable.

2. Nexon. 'Nuff said.

3. Hackers and cheaters getting away with everything in this game. I was tired of doing everything as 'legitly' as possible (bought thousands in NX up until I quit through my hard-earned real money and have always avoided duped crap or similar exploits, etc.). So if cheaters are valued just as much as non-cheaters in this game, there's no point for me to play. Rather than stoop to becoming a cheater/hacker, I just told myself that there's no point in playing altogether. Cheating and taking shortcuts is not in my character.

4. I had to grow up. Being addicted to a silly game was ruining my life. Even my weekly routine of only playing maple about 5 hours a week was taking a toll on me. After I've quit, I started going to the gym and playing ball regularly, going out a lot more, and I'm in good shape now.

5. And also, getting to the thread's topic at hand, the fun simply dissipated.

I'm still enjoying the game, even after all this time.
Still, things would've been much better if I wasn't Mapling with a damaged PC controller. =/

Anyway... It's getting more and more boring when you're playing for long hours in a day.

For most cases, people need help to quit (an addition). It becomes a part of you and it doesn't become a matter of whether it is fun or not.
Depends on the type of addition, but yes, your point relates to a lot of people including me.

I love playing maple Sometimes I get impatient with my job advancements but I feel really satisfied when I get them.

The problem is nexon. Someone needs to buy this game and run it like an actual free to play game or make it pay to play.

I frequently find myself taking long hiatuses from this game (I'd say roughly 10-15+ since I started playing in late 06) lasting anywhere from a month to a year. I just recently came back and I'm playing on my TB and WA atm when I find some spare time (college, gym, studying, working, and gf tend to steal all my time up haha ).
That said casually playing the game maybe an hour or two a week makes the game lively and interesting again. I find that when I spend money or too much time I loose the sense of fun in this game and end up taking breaks again.

My advice to anyone finding the game lackluster:
Take a break! Go out and do something else, and when you feel like playing again go ahead! If spending money on this game makes it fun then go right ahead, but you don't have to remember!

Paying 100$ and getting almost nothing really sucks.
The pay-to-win part in this game is aweful...
The gameplay itself, however, is great, and is fun.
Then make it fun! Find some friends! Seriously... it will make the game a lot better and maybe you won't be that negative after that.
Agreed. That's one of the main reasons I still play. I love bossing just because it's nice to be with so many other people instead of just grinding!

I have fun playing maple, however I'm not going to pretend I don't have problems with it as well. Basil is a good place to discuss those problems with others.

I mostly log on to AFK or chat with guild members. The actual "play" part of Maple was beaten down with impossible bosses and stupidly easy PQs.

the game itself isnt fine indeed

Some people play to be social, which I find fun about Maplestory.
