Mr. Basil hates accents and all other "uncommon" unicode characters. It's simply easier to have a blanket filter on everything that isn't a punctuation or alphabet letter than edit the filter to allow for the entirety of UTF-8, which is practically a universal standard.
BasilMarket used to allow certain unicode characters (e.g. accents, a small amount of Chinese characters, etc), but that was incredibly short-lived. Hell, you can't even use an em dash anymore -- you have to resort to 2 hyphens now.
you are not allow to type an accented e since basilers in the past used it for bypassing the word filter
looks like mr basil has to ban himself according to his own rules.
