Peta releases Pokemon parody, Pokemon Black and Blue
Here's the game itself. The game is embedded in the browser, so there's no need to download anything: just open and play!
While I'm impressed at the amount of actual effort they put into the game as a parody, I can't see them really appealing to a younger generation of audiences when it has pretty gruesome "attacks", and how it depicts trainers bloody and abusive, while the Pokemon themselves are seemed to be treated abused and beaten. Rather than an fun parody that would try to advocate the Pokemon franchise to real life situations, it seems like it would just anger or scar the average Pokemon gamer. And the way it depicts Pokemon as virtual animal fighting arenas (for lack of a censored word) seems to be rather... extreme?
Well, that's my take on it. How about you?
Here's what they say about the game.
The amount of time that Pokémon spend stuffed in pokéballs is akin to how elephants are chained up in train carts, waiting to be let out to "perform" in circuses. But the difference between real life and this fictional world full of organized animal fighting is that Pokémon games paint rosy pictures of things that are actually horrible.
@SleepyHobo: Apple stole the design from samsung f700. http://www.succeed2k.com/technology/did-apple-steal-technology.html
Ill just leave that there.
@Nicholas1284 So do you support the way this game "exploits" the Pokemon franchise?
@LazyLazyLazy It's a given. I get pinged irl.
You logged on fast
@peta Glad to know someone had the effort out there to make a PETA account.
@7thSilencer:
1) Steve Jobs is Dead
2) Tim Cook and Apple are the ones sueing
3) Steve Jobs was referencing what Picasso said.
I think there was a better way of strengthening their cause rather than this one, at least.
Well, this isnt much worse than rule 34 of pokemon.

"Shameless about stealing great ideas". Kk, coolios.
@vHachi Welcome to the world of animal rights.
@UAPaladin gooby pls
This game is absolutely horrible.
BTW, Do you liek mudkipz?
Just played it, and have never played pokemon before.
But seriously what was that crap.
PETA = protect animal rights, Kill humans.
They should start with themselves.
@LazyLazyLazy Like, you couldn't actually have them defeated in battle? Oh god, that's pretty hilarious.
@achyif Taken from the page:
The amount of time that Pokémon spend stuffed in pokéballs is akin to how elephants are chained up in train carts, waiting to be let out to "perform" in circuses. I think I'll edit the post to include it.
@magesftw That's basically what I'm shooting for. Their goal is just, the ways they try to achieve it, I'm not really a fan.
@7thSilencer: Apple is protecting it's designs. Tell Samsung to innovate, not copy.
None of my pokemon died but they were all heavily damaged
PETA should stop spending money on these parody things and start spending money to reduce their euthanasia rate. -.-''
it's a really cute though rather gruesome parody
and I just googled what exactly PETA was. Oh lol they were being serious?
Watch PETA get sued for copyright infringement. They're taking this way to seriously. Pokemon is a game and people know that.
parodies are protected by law aren't they?
Watch PETA get sued for copyright infringement. They're taking this way to seriously. Pokemon is a game and people know that.
Wrong, because nintendo and gamefreak aren't apple.
@Gunhearts extremists imo isn't really appropriate when talking about any form of activism since to the branch implementing said tactics believe that its just and is for a noble cause. while i think neither of us agree with the methods peta uses to promote themselves i guess we have to respect them.
in layman's terms:
PETA CRAY CRAY but they do what they think is soright
Watch PETA get sued for copyright infringement. They're taking this way to seriously. Pokemon is a game and people know that.
The creator doesn't get Pokemon very well.
It's still a cute game to play through, though.
@dragon2923 I seriously couldn't agree with you more.
@cashmoneyinfini It's been circulating around a lot of boards, /vp/ included.
I saw this on /vp/.
Neat!
P.e.t.a is filled with a bunch of idiots. While some of their goal are awesome, they are doing it in a very very wrong way.
@magesftw I'm not particularly negative toward animal rights, but things like this make PETA seem like extremists. Although I'm pretty sure some people think of them like that already.
It's funny how bad this parody was, but hey. At least you can get your very own P.E.T.A. Black and Blue cards!
@magesftw Even if they did manage to get publicity because of this stunt, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be for the reasons they're aiming at.
knowing them they are aiming for this kind of publicity
Yea the unnecessary blood and gore is just plain disgusting. This parody was taken wayy too far, whoever executed the idea of a Pokemon Parody did it all wrong this time.
@magesftw Even if they did manage to get publicity because of this stunt, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be for the reasons they're aiming at.
Tom(From Toonami)
Posted this on FB.
It stull surprises me that they made this.
i think its better to not talk about it since peta is doing this just to troll ppl and get the trigger word loving activist on tumblr hyped up
