Quebec its own country?

So I know there are not many canadians here, but i was wondering what you guys think of Quebec making another serious push to become its own country? anyone from Quebec wanna give their opinion and the opinion of the people they know around them? I'm from Saskatchewan and most people do not care, but the few who do, do not like Quebec and wish they'd leave but also are confused because it's seems stupid and a waste. Thoughts?

I dont want to be rude but I have to say if they dont want to be part of Canada move somewhere else out of Canada. They can't just take the land and make it their own country. If they dont want to be a Canadian, why are they here?

But anyways I do want Quebec to stay, every province/territory defines Canada <3, if 1 is gone it wouldn't be the same.

I live in Nova Scotia, and if Quebec separates it would kinda screw us over.

@AntiJoseph: I didn't know they spoke different languages and had completely different cultures. Interesting... e.e

In my view, I don't think Quebec will successfully become an independent country. In fact, I've read that Quebec's debts is as high as all of Italy's debts--if it does separate from Canada, they won't do too well. The referendum that happened about a decade ago would change as well, and looking at Quebec's current debts and the changing cultural diversity, there's less of a chance that Quebec will separate now.

@MidnightzXD: Imagine having some missing chunk in the middle. Francophones pride themselves to who they are. Since the rest of Canada is pretty much washed of all that they want to preserve what they still have :T That melting pot thing is exactly what my socials teacher said before!
If they REALLY wish to they can become a part of AMERICA..
They want to separate to keep their culture and traditions...They wouldn't want to join another country with a defined culture already. Canada is considered a mosaic for cultural diversity rather than the United States melting pot where it's expected to follow American norms. I don't understand why they would still consider leaving since Canada supports them so much. I think most Canadians outside of Quebec have stopped caring as much about them separating. It's getting old.

It's sad how Quebec can speak french and the rest of Canada cannot.

It was a good idea for us to leave Canada before because everyone were depending on us, in the old days. But now its the other way around, Quebec is depending on Canada so it isn't a good idea now.

They wont be able to survive very long and keep up what they have now without money from the federal government.

canada is nice as it is.
let's not put power into radicals that already want to leave a country due to reasons such as a language barrier.
i vote nay for it being it's own country, but i'm extremely uniformed as to the other reasons for which it would want to succeed. so don't consider my vote or opinion, i just wanted to share.
@gvjko: Yeah.. those people are just crazy. With ignorance like that, that might have a huge impact if there is another referendum.
@Froobsy: Woah those numbers are very close... I never knew they were that close in almost becoming an independent country...
It would've never worked out anyway. We're number 9 out 13 provinces when it comes to economy. How could we be our own country without an army and without a currency. And then imagine all the trouble with the english that would still live here if we separate. Separatists are just hypocrites just like Quebecs new prime minister that can't say 2 words in english. I mean come on, how can you lead a province without knowing english in 2012? Its ridiculous. We won't separate, since the english number of people has been increasing, and I'm really happy about that. The only places I hear english from is in montreal anyway, an internationally known city, of course people are going to speak english. But places like Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu will never be affected by the "culuture loss" so why cause so much trouble? I'm 100% against separation. We need canada and canada also needs us.
In 1995, 51% of the population voted No, and 49% Yes. It was really, really close. I might add that 95% of the population voted, a really high amount.
Thanks for the info. with numbers like that almost 20 years ago. i highly doubt should the same vote be taken today it would be majority "yes"

On a side note, people like this irk me.
They can become their own Country on the condition that they take their share of Canada's debt which is about half of it, then they'll fail after a short period of time decide they might wanna be a state, further lose their language, realize they were better off in Canada, beg us to take them back, tell them we found someone else, someone who appreciates us.

@xIDyNaMiiTE: Wow, those people are ridiculous, i know they are just a very small ignorant minority of french speakers, but you can't help but think other quebecois have the same, although less extreme, view.

I was born in Quebec and still live here. I want to remain with Canada, but I just think the french population is scared to lose their language and culture to the English side that invades quebec more and more every year. They are now imposing laws that force people to enter french schools. Its getting out of hand and ridiculous, I think we should accept english more since its a universal language, but still keep the french side.
Yes let's get Quebec out of Canada, please. They act like a bunch of whiny kids that start ranting and raving when they don't get their way and I don't want my country to be associated with these losers any longer. Once they separate, the anglos in Quebec will immigrate to Canada, driving down home prices in Quebec. The socialist Quebec gov't will drive up taxes for the wealthy, driving away investers and business, and thereby contributing to a downfall in their economy.

FACT: Quebec university tuition is the lowest in Canada, and it would still be the lowest after the planned tuition hikes.
As a university student paying more than double what Quebecers are paying right now in terms of tuition, it irks me to see those Quebec kids on the streets protesting tuition hikes
Wow, well thought out idea with actual reasoning. hard to argue against that. I agree. But I don't see what their big problem with being a part of Canada is. i don't really see what they have to gain from it? y'know?

@BigRedMeat I agree. Also they think they are so different and need to be their own country yadda yadaa. Really, were all one in the same. and they need to relax.
@xIDyNaMiiTE I wouldn't be so sure, of course i wasn't round to have an opinion in 1995 and 1980. But i think if they were it wouldn't be that far fetched for it to succeed

If Quebec was it's only country that would be awesome IMO.
