What gives you inspiration to draw?

I like to draw at night time, usually with pencils/colored pencils (I strongly dislike paint) but after completing my most recent piece i'm having trouble starting a new one. It's not that I can't start at all but I just start it, abandon halfway through and then give up. I've done this for the past 2 nights now so I was wondering if you have any tricks or tips that you do when starting a new art piece. Also if you'd like to share some of your drawings with me feel free to send me pms

Edit: I'd like to add that I'd prefer if it was non maple as I don't really like maple drawings

It's ok to not finish a drawing. But I guess since you're looking for motivation to finish, so I suggest taking breaks in between. Every hour or two get some food, take a walk, play a videogame, then come back to your drawing.

Leaving it for a little bit will help you refresh your mind and get back to where you left off with more ideas.

I honestly don't know if this is a good tip, but to encourage myself to continue a piece I try to listen to my favorite genres of music. It either helps me concentrate or gets me pumped to continue a drawing.

At least you are not using ink XD.... Those stippling horror </3 (I still like it though <3)! What I do is, have my arts relate with each other. One time I did works of as if I am looking through an airplane window. Since airplanes have many windows, there were many chances for new drawings (each window with different scene). With OCD problems too, I end up finishing it pretty fast because i disliked the incomplete airplane XD.

Well i usually draw anime. Why? Cause they usually leave a amazing message with me, or i am sad that the show is over xD

So in way for me drawing an anime character is way of saying thanks to them x) even though they aren't real i wana thank them the only way i know, how? By spending hours on drawings making it the best work of art to show them how much they mean to me.

This isn't just anime btw, it could be a wordart (love) or a animal(pet). Show them how much they mean to you by spending your hours of your own time into a amazing work of art. And trust me you will pat yourself on the back. I know its weird but give it a shot =)

I'm not a very quick artist, so I'm usually working on multiple pieces at once as I run out of ideas/get lazy on one of them.

I usually don't try to think of what to draw as I'm sitting at a desk with paper and stuff, but I usually get an idea and try to work out a pose days/weeks before I actually put it on paper. Inspiration comes from the games I play.

@Rationalism You don't sound weird, don't worry. I do agree with showing your friend and receiving encouragement though, I did this with my last piece and it really helped, thanks for sharing.

Not to sound like some artsy weirdo but I guess drawing gave me an outlet to create whatever I want. And I wanted to have some sort of creative skill. Finishing a drawing isn't really an issue for me. It helps when you show a friend the drawing and have them encourage you though.
