Actually, when I think about it, we did cause her massive damage and got her to 50% hp. But then she just healed herself to the maximum, which broke our hearts and caused a mutual rage quit
Range isn't the problem, status resistance is. If you get caged then hilla heals back to full hp. I have 68% status resist (78 with sylph ring) and 1.5m clean and i still get caged occasionally which is annoying. It sucks that marksman only have 20% status resistance from skills.

Once I got the pet from norm Hilla I stopped doing her daily. But then after a while I saw that she also drops this pet equip, and got it after the first time
Edit: For your question, 1m range wasn't enough for me (lvl 211) to kill her hard mode with my 204 lumi friend
I've been doing Hilla daily for 3 months straight. Not once have I gotten the pet or any earrings. I went in with 2x drop events and i only got a total of 3 complete Hilla souls and no pets. The only thing related to blackheart I've gotten is 2 pet manuals. RNGesus pls.
i done norm hilla daily for that past month with spider and only got two boxes from those 2 i got 2 earrings that i cant drop or put in cs so they waste away in my inventory w/o a pet I heard hard hilla drops it way more

It was a breeze when I went with my Kanna friend who just binded Hilla for me. I killed it within bind duration with 1.5b buffed iirc.

it dropped for me once on my link mule. never been used
