Question about Dragon Ball Z

Okay this takes place during the cell games. I've watched the entire series multiple times already because, Dragon Ball Z.

During the series there was always one point that somewhat peeked my interest. When Goku and Gohan were in the hyperbolic time chamber, they stayed in the super saiyan form even when they were out of the time chamber. They stayed in super saiyan form for quite some time until the cell games I believe.

Why did they stay in the super saiyan form for so long? I knew it made them stronger, that was probably the biggest power spike in the whole show Imo. But how did it make them stronger?
I know it's a silly question, but why did they stay in the SS for for that long of a time period?

Here's a video of what I'm talking about Goku powers up for Korin

It was to make their transition from base form > SSJ that much easier. It also, if I can recall correctly, caused them less strain. Their bodies got used to being in SSJ and it significantly increased their SSJ base power.

it was meant so that they can get used to the transformation.

for example, in Resurrection F,
spoiler alert Frieza gained his Golden Form and went to earth straight away without training, and being unable to maintain stamina

To try and make super saiyan as natural as it can get so you end up saving energy. It's like wearing weights on you for the majority of the day for an extended period of time (weight vest, ankle weights), or in dbz logic, training in greater amount of gravity. Your body will get used to it and you will thereby use less energy when doing the same task without restraints.

Well it actually didn't make them stronger per say. They actually said so themselves that they stayed in the form because they wanted to regulate the power. the transformation puts a strain on your body similarly to how the kiao-ken do. Staying in the form helps them master it, and able to use it without much troubles when they're in battle. They said they need the form to feel as natural as possible. As how their normal state is. The Super Saiyan transformation burns ki. Which is basically their life energy.

This is why Goku in the later part of the series can't sustain Super Saiyan 3 for long periods of time. And also why he didn't fuse with Vegeta with the Potara-earrings as a Super Saiyan from the start.

You should of posted this thread in the anime/manga section, since you're more likely to get replies there.
