How do you learn and master a new champion?
Recently I have been trying to pick up Lucian to enlarge my champion pool and am just curious how everyone practice/improve their mechanics with a champion. My early Lucian scores were pretty pathetoc, going 3-7 and such in normap blind picks. I did not think I was even able to go up against bots with my plays but as time passed and I spammed Lucian for roughly 15 games straight, I am now able to win almost every normal game and even in house as Lucian.

I play a bot game or two to learn their mechanics and improvise which items are best suited for their skill set. Ex: I found Trinity Force surprisingly great for Rengar
If you want to learn a champ really well I suggest you go to this website http://www.lol-coaching.com/ and signup for a lesson with a higher skilled teacher to coach you.
it's not hard to learn a champ, just playing 1 game is enough for me
Pretty much spam the champion in normals and ranked. Learn that many match-ups, what you can, and can't do, etc.
When I first bought Master Yi, I did a bot game, 2v5. Then I played normal games with him after that
I used to play bot games to get the hang of new champs (or use PBE, when I still had access), but around the time of Ahri release I switched to just diving into normal games with new champs. At this point most new champions I'm actually interested in playing don't seem overly complicated to pick up, so a few normal games would let me figure out enough to play them alright.
