Lol.

I got to gold 5 off a 8-2 placement when I got to 30.

I went 6-4 in my placements and got Silver 4. I got silver 4 last season but I never attempted to climb, I just wanted the season rewards LOL. Kinda wished they take KDA into consideration

@Gyroscope How do you know what your MMR is based of your normal games?

Bro placements are based off your hidden MMR from normal games (assuming this is your first time playing ranked).

I for one went 6-4 in my placements and got sliver 3. How? Well, I was play against sliver players in my placements due to the fact my MMR was in the sliver level.

The reason you got placed bronze 3 despite doing very well in your placements is

1. you played against bronze mmr players
2. your mmr is bronze based off your normal games
I got plat IV on main tho straight from placement

Why would I get placed much higher if I duo queue?
I'm talking about if you have no games played in s3, so a fresh smurf.
You get placed higher if you duo with someone higher because it increases your MMR more if you win against players that are much higher rated than you.
Gold V is about the max you can get with solo q.
If you duo queue you can get placed much higher. Highest i've seen is Gold 1 last season, but i'm guessing getting placed in Plat is probably possible if you duo with a Diamond 1 and go 10-0.

Me and my friend are currently smurfing together, 7-0 so far and i'm playing against mid golds.

went 9-1 on smurf and got gold V all depends if you lost the first placement and had played last season. I had not played last season on this smurf so ya I guess gold ish is the max I could get out of promo
@FlamyHeavens: but if you aren't trash you guarantee that your odds of getting a terrible teammate worse, since one of the slots is filled by yourself. I know that sometimes its hard to believe that even since even up in plat where I am I have loss streaks where I'm the only person on my team positive. But in the end as you start to get more games under your belt you'll have more than a 50% win rate and you will climb.
The thing is, it has very very low certainty that bronze 3 is where you belong. So you'll have a super easy time climbing, not to mention you'll be able to skip tons of divisions if you do well.
Friend's been stuck in Bronze 3 a while; of course if you're higher elo worthy you can climb out but trash teammates always make it hard

if u where bronze last season then u will probably be bronze this season thats how it works. if the account never played a ranked game and im talking about no ranked games played in all seasons then u can probably get to silver 1 or gold going 9-1

Well, it depends on who you played against and if you duo-ed or not.
I just finished placements yesterday for one of my accounts and I went 5-5 and got Silver 1, which was the same as last season.
Granted, if you are higher than bronze 1, you will move up very quickly.
