I escaped my first time around. But I'm just trying to collect passes now so that I can get page 2 somehow ....

I had to use ~5. It was on my 2nd run, and I had no idea what was going on. It's all just luck.

I used about 7 batteries to reach the escape room, though I heard some used up 10+ batteries and still couldn't reach it.

I guess it is all RNG.

12-14 batteries proved to do just fine for me on 3 characters.
EDIT: And they all had batteries leftover afterwards. I like to play it safe.
