Best time/place to ask a friend out to Prom?
So my Prom is in early May this year, so I have around 2 and a half months left till prom. When would be a good time and place to ask a girl out to Prom? I don't want to ask too early, but I don't want to wait too long or she might get taken. As for our relationship, we're mostly just acquaintances, as the only times I hang out with her outside of school is to study with her at a bookstore near Starbucks on the weekends.
Oh and as an extra question, for anyone who knows, how is Prom like. This sounds kinda lame, but I can't drive yet, but she can, so would it be weird to just let her drive if she did say yes?

I would, but I don't want it to make it a big deal, I don't think she would want it to be a big deal, I want to go with her as a friend. And I think I'm lacking some spine to do that, haha o.o
