So, a Str to Atk ratio question

Hi everyone! ^^

So, I got a math question. I started to find my own str:atk ratio but I want to figure out what to do from there is correct (taking out all the nx stuff wasn't easy too but it looks funny to see my drk w/o nx. :3 ). I took out all the +str potentials from equips from the total unbuffed str and took my unbuffed atk as well. Next step is what to do next....just find the ratio from there or am I missing something here? The reason I ask is because I should of been investing in %str instead of that tyrant belt but I regret nothing.

I'll just make an example to keep my own information a secret ~

Total str: 4009 = 999 + 3010
str from +str potential: 9
Total str - +str potential: 4000

Total atk unbuffed: 500

So do I just go 4000:500 or am I missing something else? Thanks.

Well, it does beat those "is my damage good" kind of threads in terms of uniqueness I guess. I might ask later about stuff like the probability chances with crits and such later on (well, not the crits because I already know that and don't need to worry about it since I have 100% crit already.) :b

Ah that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.

@MyKarma: You were misinformed.

For example, take a hypothetical character with 10k main stat, 0 sub stat, and 1,000 weapon attack. His stat:attack ratio is 10:1, so adding 1 attack (1,001) would boost his range by the same amount as adding 10 to his buffed stat (10,010).

This is based on the range forumla.

@xlxlxlxl:

You need to subtract the stats you gain from %stats(and %atk) before doing the calculations from what I've heard. I'm just lost when the character card stat boosts come into this, but since they're applied after potential like you said, they probably aren't suppose to be factored in.

@MyKarma If you're determining you're current ratio of stat to attack, you use your buffed attack and your buffed stat. The only math required is simple division: you just use what shows up in the stat window.

Character cards are applied after potential by the way.

While we're on the topic, how do stats from character cards come into this? Are they just subtracted away along with all %str to work out the ratio?
Nuuu....my secret is discovered! I should of not given so many hints!

It's actually less than the example. I like the number 4 so I went with that.

cookie4mesos: I think that might of been my 2nd thread but I kept this in my little maple notebook so I don't make a thread like this again.

It's been a while since I've seen that thread.
Well, it was posted all the way back in May. It took a little while to find. ~_~

also, i'm more of an 8 man.
Seconded. Although it more than likely has been discussed at some point or another, topics like these are significantly less common and can actually lead to productive discussion. Further, the situation presented can be (relatively) unique, so answers aren't as cut-and-paste like certain other topics.

Hmm, I have trouble choosing a preferred number. I'm somewhat inclined towards 7, but I think I might like 0 even more.

Is it just me, or do you make a lot of these Str:Atk ratio threads, @icedemon9?
i have to ask though, that 4k str... it's without any %stat? because if it is then holy crap that is indeed one heckuva lot of str for your amount of w.attk and i need to know what kind of unholy gear you're wearing o.o
Not even close! Just an example I wanted to put. :b

I see, thanks! I just did the calculations and I need a lot str (and %str)....despite the fact that I'll be getting more w.atk from both the xenon heart and the absolute ring. >.>

you need to find your buffed ratio, unless you plan to fight bosses unbuffed. count MW in too.

afterwards, for a simple number, just grab (buffed str not counting %str)total attk not counting %attk)
