It only matters when you finish. Starting before the reset is fine, so long as you finish afterward the reset, your time won't be erased for that day.

However, being the first person to finish doesn't really do much. The gloves are given out every 6 hours and which glove you get is based on what rank you are when the gloves go out, not what rank you were when you first got on the board. So even if you get the top time for being the only time on the board, if someone else beats your time before the gloves go out, you won't get the top 1 glove.
