My first blogmarket thread

I rarely make threads but I wanted to talk to people about this.

So today I went to AYCE sushi/bbq with some friends for dinner. I do tend to stuff myself at AYCEs (who doesn't right?) but never in my life have I eaten so much that I felt so sick after. Last time I felt really sick was 2 years ago when I went to the same style AYCE sushi/bbq for an ex's birthday. But today was way worse than that. I wasn't even forcing myself to eat, it was just like I was mindlessly eating and I realized too late that I overate and felt sick.

Long story short, my friends ended up taking a walk with me, giving me water, plastic bags, words of encouragements etc for over an hour after dinner. I ended up throwing up 3 times (once in an alley, twice in plastic bags) in public and I have never thrown up in public in my entire life. Tbh it felt embarrassing and i'm sure some ppl thought I was wasted or something.

So a couple of questions:
1) My stomach still feels upset and I want to snack on some watermelon but I'm not sure if it's a good idea? any foods you recommend to eat after throwing up?
2) how do i overcome my embarrassment for what happened? I feel grateful for having friends to take care of me but I also feel bad and it's like I ruined their night or something. should I make it up to them and if so, how? i should thank them but i feel too embarrassed to bring it up o.o
cool. i love blogmarket threads. i hope u had a good time minus the puking and embarrassment!

after puking, drink something high in electrolytes, like coconut water (something w/ a high % daily value). i do not recommend gatorade/powerade, although it's advertised to be high in electrolytes, it's not. keep hydrated, u might be feeling icky due to dehydration.

as for embarrassment, it's no biggie ~ stuff like that happen. that's what friends are for
I wouldn't recommend eating much of anything if you're still feeling sick.
Drink a bit of gatorade or some other kind of sports drink. I always feel worse if I drink a ton of water if I'm feeling sick. But that's just me.
Take some pepto-bismal or tums or something and see if you feel better. Then I'd say it's probably okay to snack on some watermelon.

For your friends however, that kind of crap happens.
Just say the sushi must not have settled right with you and just get them a little something the next time you guys go out to make up for them taking care of you.
Buy a round of drinks or some appetizers if you aren't one for that.
If they were good friends they would be more happy you didn't get some kind of crazy food poisoning instead of being annoyed with your emesis.

1. Drink lots of water and eat watermelon later.
2. Throwing up in public isn't that embarrassing, so you'll be fine.

Don't eat tons of sushi. I went to AYCE today too at 3pm.

@Rationalism: I know they're not angry or bitter, in fact they were laughing and joking around while taking care of me. I dunno, I just feel kind of bad.
@LostMyJob: yep every time after I go to AYCE I don't want any sushi for like a year.
@SuberKieran: thanks for the suggestion!
@Yumtoast: thanks for not trash talking this time wow can't believe I've been on basil for nearly a decade now. and I swear this whole time I've made like less than 10 threads. I don't plan on eating a lot but it just feels like I need a little something to settle my stomach. I've been sipping on water but it's not helping that much. and thanks. i'll try to put it behind me and not feel bad

Normally I ignore or trash-talk blog posts, but since you've been here nearly a decade without making one, you get a free pass. I know how you feel. Last year when my roommate was still working at an American-style AYCE buffet, he would occasionally invite me and my other roommate over with his 50% employee discount. protip: don't binge on orange sherbet and salmon just because it's all you can eat

1) I'm no MD, but it can't be a good idea to eat more after binging and then throwing up, even if watermelon is a light food.
2) I wouldn't feel too bad. I had to drop everything I was doing at 4:00AM a while back and drive a friend to the hospital because he was injured while drunk. I was surprisingly more worried about my friend than annoyed at the situation.

This is just me but I usually do peanut butter when I'm sick, it's easy to spoon eat, easily replaces lost calories from not eating/throwing up, and it seems to stay down down pretty well.

Too much sushi = throw up 100%

You shouldn't eat anything if you still feel sick but if you really need to try something like bread, crackers, etc. Things that don' have much flavor.

If I were in the position of one of your friends I wouldn't feel like you ruined anything. And honestly if any of them feel some sort of anger or bitterness towards you being sick, they aren't worth being friends with anyway. You won't ever see the people who saw you throw up in public so don't worry about it.
