More Intimate activity between players on Basil.

I think it'd be nice if we could have stuff like visitor messages, bulletins (shows to all of your friends on basil), and more basic social-networking esque features. It'd be really convenient (visitor messages are sometimes more convenient than leaving a PM; but not necessary), and bulletins would be simple if you add people who you auctioned with to your basilID. You could leave a bulletin saying "I'm online right now if any of you want to trade" or "I'll be out of town so I'll be unable to trade this weekend" instead of sending PMs to each individual.

None of this is necessary, just merely something I think would be neat and convenient if it was possible.

I know, right? Profil3 linked on Basil would be so cool, I can't believe Basil hasn't done this yet!
@TrampMonkey:
Oh, so lets remove the chat section, and the tech help section, because this forum focuses purely on maplestory!
Lets have no social interaction at all. Ever
The social networking part of this site is, as Trampmonkey already stated, only secondary to the MapleStory part of it. That is why the Chat island is much smaller than the MapleStory related part. MrBasil has also removed the Chat function (we couldn't manage it) and detached *Profil3. That emphasises this isn't mainly a social networking site. You can use it as such, but you can't expect it to be equiped like Facebook or Hyves or something. I do not think MrBasil will bring more common social networking features to this site.

* Previously Profil3 took care of the social networking aspect of Basil Market.

Oh yea! I forgot that Profil3 and Chat existed. And I agree, those things would be helpful. I vote yes, even though we aren't voting.
Honestly if you feel the constant need to be on Basil when you aren't at a computer, thats a problem for you, not MrB. If your not at a computer anyway, a status message isn't going to do anything if your waiting on an auction.

And it's a pretty good example of why this idea isn't good to begin with. This isn't twitter. This isn't Facebook. Get your social networking fix on a social networking site. Not a forum.
Because other forums don't have these features, right?
Not everyone likes to give their facebook or myspace to people on maple. It's rather more convenient and comfortable if it was on a forum like basil.

@bananadevontay: Wanna show me where I said "focuses purely"? I don't want to argue about this because people will complain and I risk getting suspended. Basil's main focus is MapleStory. People who are asking for more social aspects are on the wrong website.
See first post.
"A social network service is an online service, platform, or site that focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A social network service essentially consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network services are web based and provide means for users to interact over the internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging. Although online community services are sometimes considered as a social network service. In a broader sense, social network service usually means an individual-centered service whereas online community services are group-centered. Social networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities, events, and interests within their individual
networks."

Basil has all of these.

I do, but Basil's forums aren't meant for social networking. Its focus is MapleStory.
Well, BIM has status messages. Use that. Other then that, if he cared like people said, he wouldn't have gotten rid of that god awful profil3 garbage.
Unfortunately, BIM can't be seen on phones or iPods which a lot of people access Basil from when they aren't at home.

Mr. Basil doesn't seem to care much for that kind of stuff.

From what I've seen upon my return, Mr.Basil isn't a big fan of convenience, good additions, or working. The only difference I see from my last visit here three months ago is that the Meebo bar is far more unstable than it was before and someone thought it was a good idea to change the voting bar color from a soothing green to a diarrhea yellow.
