Equipment Update Level 200 Phantom dHydrate 1

New Phantom youtube channel

Hey basil,

I just made a youtube channel for my phantom. I have a video on his eqp and range.
I was hoping you guys could give me some constructive criticism on how to make it more interesting etc.

In other words, what makes you stay to watch the video and give it that thumbs up?
Tell me, what do you plan on doing? As @Swagilicious said, those crap are boring. Here's an idea, since you're an above average player, not average;not noob;not godly; and not even sure if not pro, use that. Gather other above average players, why above average players? Because anything below can't do much, anything above would be boring as theyd just one hit or easily kill things. Do boss runs with those players, we rarely see group boss runs now a days and that'd be entertaining to watch. Though crop the lengths, cut them into sections while also uploading a full run for people who want to see. Add in a chat, a call on skype with you and those players, this way we'll have something to listen to. Boom, you just gave something unique, a boss run that isn't a solo, duo, or even a trio. No, try to get a large amount of players in those boss runs. Have like a 12 member PB run or something, or is that too easy even with above average players? Above average now a day counts as having a 50k+ range right? Iunno, just something like that.

Let us see things we don't see normally on Maplestory videos.
-Large number of players in a boss run
-Wearing nothing but a weapon in a boss run, a clean weapon
I can only think of stuff for bosses really, anything else would be kinda dull I guess. No one really cares for cubing videos, no one wants to watch a training video. Though a leveling video ... hmm, maybe you could start a series, where all you do is play a character. But twist! You only do quests, like every quest possible or something. Do a commentary while you're at it, skip some boring parts, that kinda stuff. It'll be better than those people who start a series and just have us watch hours worth of grinding and them rambling. Go into immersion, while you're questing get a feel of what it's like to be your character. Don't try hard and role play as your character, just give some comments as to what it'd be like to actually do these quests in that situation. Ex: I'm doing the Nova quest to fight those three bosses for helisium equips, and I rant on about how these people aren't going to fall because they're being invaded, they're going to fall for being too lazy to get off their asses and doing this crap themself. "I need 100 of these items because I'm hungry", dammit, learn to feed yourself.

Usually I'd give a sarcastic or just rude remark, but since you're not some NX hord "godly" or "pro" I chose to gave some advice. Maybe not good advice or even usable, but I'd say it's better than me bashing on you for trying. Good luck
Wow. Well i'm definitely not pro nor noob. Thank you for your input. lol it seems you have some quality ideas regarding the quests and how to comment on them. You can start your own channel ^^.

I plan to make vids on the new events. I already have an idea for one but i hope to frequently make more so i have to think of more. I think showing that a decent but not godly range can solo some bosses would be a good video if not i can ask my friend who's a DB to assist but that would be besides the point because he would be doing the majority of the dmg LOL.

@LeafyyElf: I used the free version of Bandicam. I also have windows movie maker installed on my laptop so you think it would apply for that program?
Well unlike many other maplers who youtube, have a good quality microphone, record good length videos: 5 - 15 minutes, and have events for your subscribers, contests and awards.

Also, don't brag about "look at dis 69k range im so gud and ur nat"
Instead ask for feedback from your audience, and try to involve them in what you do the most.

Upload frequently, so far that's all I have for you.

Good luck! + watching ur vids atm
What this kind sir said pretty much. Just try to stay humble to your viewers and dont let haters get to you.
Welcome to the world of Maplestory commentaries my fellow commentator
Also I have a tutorial on recording and rendering videos if anyone is interrested, I thought it would help you out as well, this will also show you how to remove the black bars on the side of your video for future videos. Warning - it is a long video so watch whenever you have time, also turn on annotation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my-lfuRV3G0]Tutorial on Making Videos

@Fiercerain: Scripts sounds like a really good idea, thank you.

i think i will make an intro from basic text for now.

Really good points, ill take them into consideration!

@SirJayGatsby,

Thanks for the unique perspective. I think the bossing part will be a long way to go.
Empress is a long time from now for sure. :l

[*]A little intro would be nice for the vid itself to explain the purpose
[*]Make a script for yourself, I'm serious. It sounds awkward, and tedious, but if you have a script you won't sound like you're rambling on
[*]Crop your footage to give us the focus of what's important, not everything on your screen. It's a bit of an eyesore with the Maple UI plus the main screen. Just my opinion though
[*]Your voice is good, it's slow enough to understand well

This is what came to mind within the first few seconds. :o
Hope this helps

I have a lot of feedback for ya man.

1. Increase your range to the 100k mark. You can essentially talk about or do anything if you're range is considered high (or "top-tier&quot because people will watch it just to see the numbers.
2. I think you'll improve your speaking as you get used to being on the mic so don't worry so much about that.
3. You might want to do some interesting things like going into the market and buying items then cubing -> re-sell or even just scrolling things well. People love that stuff.
4. You'll want to include so solo videos that detail the kind of range necessary to beat some key bosses. I think one advantage you have over the top tier players is that your range is high enough that people will watch the big numbers but low enough to that people can see themselves doing the same things and will probably watch you try and get pointers. So for example, say Empress requires a 150k range to beat in X-amount of time.
5. Become a part of a really large guild that's well-known.
6. Henehoe as much as possible to really improve your community image.
7. Do a collab vid with Michelle Phan. Let her style your character or something.

1. I think the mic is fine
2. too much "ummm"
3. aside from cubing/nx stuff, you need something "fun" so people will go back to you
4. ex. Daboki's MapleMondays, you can maybe do Jacky's merching adventures or something...
4. don't really see a reason to subscribe yet
5. not really that bad for your first video
6. you just realized I repeated #4 2 times...

Good luck

I dont see how 69k range is bragging. Ah... i dont think i'll make another vid til i get a better microphone or just watch the other people make them then.

How is your range so low? You have a load more %Luk than my shad and about the same attack. Yet, I have a higher range than you (we have the same multipliers I believe and this is clean by the way and Shads don't have any passives that boost attack other than Mastery )

You need a new mic.
Learn how to keep the aspect ratio so no ugly black bars.
Talk clearer.
