Specs are overrated.
Why do people get specs? A racc mask has the same potential tier (3rd tier is greater than or equal to lv71), and the 2 or so stats barely matter for the extra price you pay for specs. Specs are around 400m in kradia, racc mask is around 100. Racc mask even has more slots.
If people get specs for looks, the extra 300m they spent on a pair of specs over a racc mask could have been used on permanent nx eye equipment, and they still would have saved meso.
Please explain to me why people even buy specs (for so much).

They're better looking than every other face accessory.
They're not ugly like every other face accessory.
This is why I don't have cracked glasses/masks - they're super-ugly.
Looking good makes an impact on your gameplay; you'd be less motivated/interested in playing the game if the main character/your character is ugly as hell, especially when you're always on-screen.
Racc masks are ugly
I would love spec goggles. They look super cool.
I heard level 70 equips gain a potential tier in chaos.

No, but you could have done better by selling the specs to buy rac masks. What would you have done if you failed the pot scroll on the specs? You got lucky, but your decision was noobish.

HB buff is the exception. You can get it with level 70+ pants.
Why do you care how you look in a game -__- It's not going to get you anywhere. I realized this after I was telling my girlfriend what I was going to do on Maplestory and she called me an idiot. Then I realized that it's pretty idiotic to go for looks in a game.
If you're gonna play a game, you probably want to be good at the game. If you want be good at a game, it doesn't matter how you look as long as the stats are good.
And if everyone's getting specs, I probably would reconsider getting them because I don't want to look like everyone else.
Why would you go for a style that everyone else is going for, and why not go for your own style?
i personally dislike specs.

@ilikefood: There is an alternative, it's called not spending money to make your character look the way you want it to look, just like people spend extra money to get spectrum goggles which do exactly what NX clothing does, spice up your characters look while giving extra stats as a bonus.
I'm very much satisfied with my goggles.
It brings character.

Don't you know that ALL items in maplestory are hard to get 3 line? and if I recall, stormcaster gloves are just about THE most EXPENSIVE glove I have ever seen in this game. Lvl 90 machine gloves...aren't they obtainable from a repeatable quest? Which makes them easier to potenital/scroll?
And also, the reason reverse gloves aren't as common, is cuz some people are too lazy to focus on the temple of time quests, so we get less pieces of time. I could be wrong about that one though.

Well, its ok I guess. I am not going omg I want them, but if I had some, I would keep them. STill would nx it up I hat stuff covering my eyes, ugly imo.

He was comparing a BWG and a SCG, not a SCG and 80 or 90 glove.
And the TS was comparing glasses and specs, with potentials included.
I think specs look cooler than every nx item.
The lv90 machine gloves are really hard to get 3 line and good attack (to the point where you could compare it with a scg). Same goes for reverse gloves. scgs are much more common.

I mean, why waste the money potentializing a level 50 stormcaster glove, when there is better higher level gloves out there to potential and scroll, such as lvl 90 machine gloves, or Reverse/timeless gloves?

People buy spectrum goggles for the same reason: Cuz they look cool. They're expensive cuz of the demand for style. Its just like buying stormcaster gloves and facestompers.
Why do people buy those? Cuz they look cool. People like looking rich, but sadly, this also can attract other people wanting them just as much, so they bother you for them. =P
The inflated price on these desirable items is literally cuz of their style (Some cases, their stats). Facestompers, however, are now rivaled by shoes that can land a good stat % (If you use reverse, its even better), however, if FS are potentialed right, and chaos scrolled to chance at a higher w att value, they make for excellent end-game shoes.
However...that gets very expensive. =/ Also, trying your hand at scrolling with shoe w att scrolls will make you go bankrupt...rare and expensive scrolls.
Stormcaster gloves are rivaled by brown work gloves, seeing as the brown work gloves have more slots, and stormcasters start with 5 w att. I believe if I'm correct, they both can land 21 att if scrolled perfect (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Again, specs, and racc masks, they both rival each other for stats, but the racc mask, not so much for style.
I guess some people are willing to spit that extra penny (Or pennies) to not waste the nx to cover up something ugly.

While you're at it, why get SCGS? They're COMPLETELY overpriced even when clean, a BWG is cheaper and has more slots, which makes it potentially better if youre gonna be a perfect scroller.
If you want SCGs for potential, their potential is terrible, Just get the level 90(or 80 im not sure) machine gloves for 20mil and potential those!

The difference between nx and specs is that there is no alternative for nx, whereas (as previously mentioned), you can buy a racc mask + nx eyewear for specs.

I have never seen a thread pointing this out. By the way, you are contradicting yourself. By saying "Who said the goggles do nothing", you are implying that they do something, yet later you state that the only reason you get specs are for preferences, implying uselessness.
Specs are for looks.
off your logic, why even bother with a mask when you can get broken glasses for less than 100m and still have tier 2 potential? because its cool.
You can still get perma items if they are newly released. You can get perma eyes if Nexon releases new ones.

so can the mask stat wise the rac masks will always be better, for example accessory scroll 60% for dex = 2 dex + 6 slots u/h 6 slots left to chaos vs the 1-3 dex + 3 slots u/h (total of 5) which makes the mask the obvious better buy.
Specs are nothing more than a luxury, just buy a mask if you prefer stats such as myself unless you want to look cool spend the extra mesos on the specs.
I like my brown, I have owned specs 3 different times. Always back to Browns
I like Specs more than any Cash Shop eye accessory. o.O
