Laptop random shutdowns

Hello,

Occasionally, my laptop randomly shuts down when there's high power use (playing maplestory, having like 5 browsers open while watching a youtube video). I've looked it up, and I think the probable cause is overheating due to the inside of the laptop being relatively dirty due to dust, etc. (though I'm not sure, if you have any other suggestions tell me) I want to get it cleaned to prevent this issue, but I want to see if there's any possible and inexpensive solutions compared to taking it to a shop? Also, I don't have a can of compressed air..Also, is there anyway to reduce these shutdowns by changing an energy setting or something to prevent overheating?

Thanks in advance

seriously, go buy a can of compressed air. while you do that,
-pray you destatic-
in the mean time, use a thin light brush [watercolor brush for soft bristles] and gently wipe the dust off outwards near the fan exhaust.
Opening up the laptop and blowing out [don't spit] the dust and carefully removing the dust with brush.
Take out Chunks with tweezers while avoiding any physical contact with the machine.

for the desperate who won't bother buying a new laptop to replace their outdated one: a cooling pad is your last option. [best to use an external usb socket]

Changing power settings will only slow the computer processing down. worst is when the fan speed is included...
make the descision:
1- end all useless processes, run maplestory and end explorer+taskmanager to leave off some load.
2- use a single browser- single tab [chrome perferrably]- and turn down your settings. but not run maple story.

There is no actual harm in unscrewing the covers of the laptop and using a blower as long as the setting is low (to get rid of some of the possible dust lingering inside the laptop) In terms of performance, I would suggest reviewing your power options and tone down on program usage and services that are going on in the background of your computer.
